Default Suzuki Gixxer vs Yamaha fz 2.0

    Hello,

I know I have posted multiple times about purchasing a bike.
Confused between a KTM and an Enfield.
I had almost booked the Enfield.
But sadly my mother fell ill since a year and things got serious.
She's on her road to recovery and slowly getting better.
Just wanted to let you guys know, so you won't wonder why I keep coming back again and again.

I'm sure most of you must be wondering.
    From KTM to fz?
    From 350 to 150?

Well, the reason I wanted a Enfield was cause I liked the way it feels.
But spending time with people and understanding it's maintenance, I understood it's not my type.
As I am in the city 90℅ of the time.
That too in a city like Mumbai.

The reason I dropped the KTM Duke 200 is cause I don't drive fast.
I actually learnt how to drive on the KTM 200
    I actually liked it.

But low fuel efficiency and it not being able to drive relaxed bothered me.

I would have loved the Enfield
    Since it drives slow.
But maintained and low fuel efficiency pulled me off it.
Rusting too, since I'm in Mumbai.

I currently own a hero maestro first gen

The reason I'm leaning towards the Suzuki Gixxer is a
It's carburettor model and rear disc.
I heard it's easier to maintain carb models?

Reason I'm not towards the fz is mainly poor braking? I once rode my friend's and did not find it very well.
Or am I wrong? I took a small ride.

I just want a bike which is low on my pocket and gives me good fuel efficiency.

I don't really trust service centres, so I do it from my mechanic or myself.

My mechanic told me that Gixxer is a fail bike? Is it true?

    I'm confused guys.
    Mileage
    Low maintenance
    Quality.

    Help!

The Gixxer and FZ are both good bikes. Your friend's bike probably had a brake issue, else the bike has no braking problems. And no the person who told you the Gixxer is a failed product is wrong. It is the model which has helped Suzuki push a lot of bikes in the Indian market.

You wouldn't be going wrong with either of the two. Go through the ownership threads of both bikes for better info.

    Cheers

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Sweet! Thanks for the quick reply.
Just one more thing about maintaince
I read somewhere you have to spend 1900₹ for fuel injection cleaning every now and then? Is it true?

Hey mate, If you drool over faired bikes then SF it is. Else you always have the naked Gixxy. FZ's design has started ageing. - Gixxy wins.

Gixxy's low end is more powerful than that of FZ. Since you're going to drive 90% in the city this factor will be a boon for you. - Gixxy wins.

Difference in fuel efficiency between the bikes won't be anything more or less than 2-4km/litre. So this factor can be safely ignored.

Quality of both bikes is more than enough to last for a couple of years. Unless one is nitpicking this factor can also be ignored.

You may enquire about Suzuki's and Yamaha's svc from fellow owners/xbhpians in your city. You decide who wins here.

Apart from the above mentioned factors I can't think of anything else that'll narrow down the choice. So given the above factors, Gixxy wins 2-1 in my books.

    Cheers!

That was a speedy reply! Haha on point.
    I was thinking the same.
Since I ride in the city, Gixxer makes sense.
    Thanks!

Go for gixxer. My brother already has SF, It's very good bike with low maintenance. When I ride this bike (specially in traffic) I feel very happy and easy than my yamaha r15.

I didn't see any rust in bike yet. I think rusting issue comes with the bike made before 2015/16. It can do 35-45kmpl in city and normally do 50-55kmpl.
