And going by the looks if the bike, i think it has an aggressive riding position.
And moreover it doesn't have a pillion seat I believe. Experts correct me if I am wrong.
The prototype model suggests there wouldn't be a pillion seat but even if the commercial model gets it I'm betting it won't be accessible much.
So, I'd suggest Duke 390 as it gets a little refined engine, softer seats. And the riding position is very pleasant except for the backset foot pedals which are only an issue for long rides but nothing you cannot shake off in a few minutes.

On the 2017 Duke 390 ownership thread, I read about the ECU malfunctioning, malfunction of Drive by wire etc. How reliable is the machine? I am not in an urgent need and hence would want to wait and watch on how it goes with the initial batches of Duke 390. I have requested a test drive for Dominar. Are the vibrations under control with Dominar?

Any news on the updates to CBR 250R BS IV models? Honda websites have put out massive (up to 22K) on BS III models and hence I am curious if there would be changes to the BS IV models - esp. things like DRL, AHO etc.

As you aren't in a hurry, I suggest you wait for a couple of more weeks. Looks like Indian spec'd version of BMW G310R is launched in Thailand. Sources tell the price is lower than D390's which is even more interesting.

On a completely OT, no offense mate and please don't take me wrong before I ask, why spend 2 to 2.5 lakhs on a bike that's going to be used mainly for commuting and occasional touring? I personally feel there are bikes such as FZ25, RTR200, Dominar, and CBR250 are not only well below your budget but also will excellently serve your purpose.

    Cheers!

Seating position of CBR 150 and 250 has almost the same seating position but 250 looks more bigger when you sit on the saddle. To feel the power and torque you need to get a test ride of CBR 250. Send an email or book a test ride through Honda website bro.

The BMW G310R is mouth watering prospect, but any chance that will be coming to the shores in the next 3-4 months?
    - possible one as per recent news on websites they will be releasing around June it seems.

I don't have much idea about slipper clutches - AFAIK it prevents rear wheel locking during engine braking (during engine downshifts) this might be useful for you during rainy season and on muddy roads provided you are using engine downshifts to brake.

I have made 2 separate request by email and also with the dealer personally. Not a single response. They don't seem to have the first clue about customer service

Is FZ25 or Duke 250 capable of handling peak hour traffic engine heat for more than an hour??

No offense taken mate. I used to own an Apache 180, so looking for an upgrade. The budget mentioned is an upper limit. So FZ25 CBR and Dominar are on the radar.

Hey mate, saw your original thread as well. I don't have any data to comment on Duke 250's capability. One of my acquaintances has got FZ25 and he rides it daily to and fro his office. There's no heat as per his words but on a lighter note, we Chennaites have a totally different level of tolerance towards heat.

Just a few questions for you, sorry for spamming this thread, are you sure that the heat from your RS200 was that unbearable, did you make sure that nothing was wrong with your bike's engine, and did you get a chance to try any other RS200 for a brief amount of time in traffic?

    Cheers!

Hi GandalfTheGrey, I have raised the heating issue with the service mechanics during regular service. However, the mechanics say everything seems to be fine with my bike. Its only because of peak traffic, full fairing and 1.5+ hours of commute time, the issue aggrevates and causes unbearable heat wave from radiator fan.

Hence, I am looking out for more torqy engine and better heat handling capablity bike for my need. This thread closely relates to my needs and helping me to bottom down and filter the options. That is why I am concerned about considering FZ25, which is only oil cooled and KTM Duke 250, which again comes from a family of high compression engine design. These are the only two bikes which actually are better than my present bike and seems to be more reliable too!

It was just a malfunction of oil level sensor. Just turning off ignition and turning it back on did the trick to him. And with a bundle of sensors something always goes wrong for the first batch. If you can wait, I'd suggest you to buy next batch since they might get an ECU update.

    D250 might but FZ250 can.

RS 400 is on it's way now if you are interested in bikes with fairings.
