Smile MAVERICK from New Delhi

Hello guys,

My name is Jay Shridhar and i am 28 years old .
Currently living in delhi.
Belongs to Himachal and a native of himachal.

The history of biking starts from History of travelling and biking from my dad. My dad was a Bank officer and loved to travel a lot and that was a main reason for liking the travelling. every three year he use to get his transffer orders and he never denied and kept on moving, The only negative impact was that i never had freinds anywhere as my school changed every third year and plus point was that i got freinds in all citiies.

During his job time we travelled a lot in H.P. , J&K, PunJab, Rajasthan . My fist memories are of a Priya / Lamberreta he purchased when i was in first. He used to give me a ride any time when he liked on his Yezdi he purchased when i was in 2nd class.

At that time we live in J&K and that year ( 1991) he ride his Yezdi which he purchased from CHD to all the way upto Jammu. And since then he was doing long trips. So this was how i was / am considering myself a Born Biker.

I got my training all on Yezdi only so was kind of fearless.

At the age of 16 i got my hand on RX-100 on which obvsly i did many small a trip withour informing parents. The sound of Rx-100 was a real pleasure to ears. At 18 my dad gifted me a Suzuki SHogun as he saw my getting in love with bikes and their sound. I did rode shogun to much longer distances which were not above 200-300 ( coz this much was allowed to do in a day).

At 20 i purchased a Pulsar 150 cc and that was the starting of riding era...was studying in college from ajmer ( rajasthan) and from there only long rides to udaipur, jaipur, jodhpur etc ( i.e. rides above 500)...

got my first job in mumbai which i left only in 8 months coz somewhere i was feelign m not worth it.

Started a small venture with elder brother which was into Highways and Mapmaking. Thought this to be the best to fulfill my zeest of travelling and going new places.

Now in 2006 i was there in Arunachal on some work when i saw a number of Royal enfeilds passing thru....and that was the moment my selfness awaked...the spirit of riding which was lying ideal somewhere beaneath my skin....evolved.....and coming abck to delhi i went to purchase a royal enfeild luckily got my cousins Thunderbird who was going offshore onto office work. Did rode it 3 years and 2008 purchased my own Thunderbird

Since 2006 m riding very very regular and visited a lots of palces. Initially started with all freinds and then local clubs but soon cleared the picture that linke minds are always hard to find and posers are so easy to reach....

Started riding alone and was getting much more peace ...and understood the real meaning of ride....why i have to ride and i why i cant use any other transport medium be it work be it visiting places.....i make use of my bike the most whenever i get free time be it a single day or be it 4 months...

Starting july 2006 i rode to different states almost coverin all parts..i do take a 2-3 months vacation most of the times and concentrate on single state or two...

Rides done till date

NEPAL, BHUTAN, BURMA,

J&K, H.P., RAJASTHAN, M.P-., GUJRAT, CHHATISGARH, ORRISA, GOA, ETC.
i dont find any peace or any idea of writing the names where i have ride to...coz every ride is so different and so new....

but yeah in most of situation where i find a lock/ confuse/ bored/ frustate......RIDE IS THE ONLY SOLUTION I FIND....

my fav bike : Ducati Multistrada 1200 S....( putting my sincere efforts to purchase is soon...otherwise luking for bmw 1200gs)..

So i hope i cleared everything about myself without being so attitude or so frankly....like the way it should be...

HOPE TO SEE XBHPian soon on road....

thanks guys..

thanks for your warm welcome..

Hey KMK aka powertwin.. i aint termed Burma as a state...its written above in countries category... i think my mis placing of words have might created confusion...

About my Visit to burma...
Initially i planned to ride thru it ...so started gathering info and all the maps ....

as soon i visited thi Burmese Embessey...i was known that m not allowed to take my bike in Burma... though i was on work there and as a official i requested to take my bike as i will be needing it most of the times becuase of the project we were doing was a indo-burma highways project. so to have a connectivity between calcutta to sittwwe port ( in burma ) and then up thru a river known as Kaladaan ( which is curretnly serving to over 5 regions in burma) . The idea was to build a road for transportation.

But behind all my reasons they simply refused. Later on i got to know that in most of the towns ( which are well connected by roads) like Yangoon and Neypidowh ( dont mind the spellings)...no bikes are allowed on roads...yeah...even the local people have to commute eiother by local autos or buses...or else they have plenty of second hand european cars...

So the plan was almost killed but i aint loosed the hope...

Tried to give it chance and started my ride to burma from delhi while having VISA for 90 days to burma and some official letters from ministry of highways and transportation of Burma and some other ministries....

rode to guwahati and tried to enter burma thru stillwell road....well that was the plan....but the assam rifles didnt allowed me to pass thru no mans land which was indeed the other side of border a place called LAke of no return....near a village Pangsau....i was allowed only to go till there...its hardly 10 kms inside Burma....i.e. kind of no burma...

then also i tried from mizoram border but eventually there was no acess on bike but only walk thru a minor cart track...so no chances...

So i kept my bike back in guwahati and flew to calcutta as a official and then to Yangoon....there i got to see that really there are no bikes at all...such a sad country...

but it was restricted to major cities only....i planned a backpacking and visited fat among the places like Monywa, neypidowh, sittwe, pletwa, singdaan, Laos border, Bagan etc and it was amazing....i do get bikes in town for rent to visit the msot historical and farthest places but was not allowed to cross the state to another...so in 45 days i did almost all major places of burma...and got chance to ride on some exotic dirt routes on a 100 cc honda ( which looks like a kind of scotty) ...if u remember we hand this Honda street without clutch and 4 gears back in 1999...

well pics are there on my FB

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...3239150&type=1

i still had a visa left for 45 days till december 2011...so if any plans ??? we can go..

Man you are true maverick! Given my lazy attitude, there are few threads which I read in xBhp, yours will be amongst my threads. Lucky you, Seen Burma!
