Default I had a dream, I am flying

Hi all,

First of all I would like to thank the people behind Xbhp. I have just recently found this site and I really think its great. I wanted to go thru all the threads before introducing myself but there is so much here that it may take me a few months to go thru it all. Hats off to you guys.
I am residing outside India and have been doing so for 10 yrs now and would like to share a little bit about myself as I am very excited to see all the bikers here. Not sure if this is the right place for this thread but still. The Indian biking has come a long way and its great to see the number of bikes available and the quality of products coming out. Now we can even look at the big jap 4's (kawasaki, honda, yamaha, suzuki) and the Italian and European bikes at home.
My interest in bikes started at a very early age. Actually I liked anything that could go faster than I could run, so cycles, bikes, cars and anything on wheels was interesting. During my childhood days having a cycle was a big thing having a moped was great, having a motorcycle was way too much. I used to always day dream of having a nice bike. At that time it would have been the RX 100 if luck was even better then it would have surely been the RD350. I used to do anything and everything to get to ride .... like washing people's bikes for just a 10 min ride. Wow those were the days. The very first ride on a 2 wheeler was a Luna, then I had the chance to learn ridding the LML vespa T5. I used to get back from school and ask dad for the keys to the scooter saying I wanted to wash it...hehehe I used to ride it more than wash it. When dad realized my passion for bikes he asked me to wait till I turned 18 so I could get my license and ride legally and then he would buy me a bike. It was the longest wait of my life. however when I did turn 18 I could not get the bike due to a lot of financial constraints and had to wait till I was in my last year of college. This is when I got a used 1987 RX 100 in maroon color. It was and still is the love of my life and the RD had to wait. 10 yrs ago I left India and had to leave my bike behind. Time flew by and the biker inside me was dying a slow death. The routine life took over and I could not think of buying a bike. As time went by I realized there is no point in just thinking about a bike and not doing anything about it. So I sold off my car. Which in itself was a big deal, just imagine selling off an Alfa Romeo which I had to work really hard to afford???? but I had made up my mind. Then a very long period of major saving. When I had the money in hand I went looking for a bike. This would be my only bike and so it had to have everything. It needs to be easy in traffic, it needs to move fast when I have the need for speed and it should be good looking. Now the bike I thought that fit the picture was the Ducati monster. I kept looking out for one but somehow could never get my hands on a nice clean one. Time was going by and then I came upon the bike that was part of my wildest dreams and had seen a photo of it in a magazine way back in 2000. This Happens to be an MV Agusta F4. Man I want this bike felt like a kid that wanted a toy so bad that I was losing sleep over it. Anyway again I could not find a good F4 within my budget. Back to naked bikes and suddenly I come upon a MV Agusta Brutale. This is a naked. Its fast if I need it to be and its one of the best looking naked bikes I have ever laid my eyes upon. Again sleepless nights .... damn it. This bike was in very good condition and just a little outside my budget. I worked something out with the owner and put in a down payment to book the bike and waited for a few more months, more savings and now finally I have my very own bike, with my hard earned money and its beautiful. I cannot explain the pleasure of owing this bike. Its not about the money and I am not trying to show off, its been a dream I saw as a child and now this dream has a name. BRUTALE. I just wanted to share this with you all as its been a long way coming from a 2 stroke single cylinder to this inline 4 which makes a sound that is intoxicating, and would like to add that one should never stop dreaming, you will not achieve anything if you dont have a dream.
I am not sure what you will make out from all that you have read above but I feel most alive when I ride a bike because at that moment nothing is important and everything else can wait. At that moment I am not an employee, not a son to a caring father/mother, not a husband to a loving wife, I dont care about my worries, In fact it’s the only time I am free from everything .... cause I am just flying on the ground. I guess thats why motorcycle racers are called pilots as they make bikes fly on the road.
Man I have so much more to share but I guess I will end it here, just one more thing I would like to add, while ridding back home we never wore any protective gear but we were ignorant. This is my request to all bikers, please wear proper gear while riding, the helmet is a big must have. We spend so much on our bikes but we are more important that the bike itself which can be replaced but a life cannot be replaced. Please use protective clothing and gear, it can save lives. All the gear at all the times.
Now go out there and burn some rubber.
Sarge.
