Default My first Love

Hello Bikers,

After few sleepless nights I managed to make an intro post of my bike. Though I brought my bride an year ago I was inspired by various write-ups of fellow bikers and I would like to mark my first post about my love.

Kindly excuse any mistakes as it is my first try...

Caution - Tooooo Big post, read when you find time!!

Birdie I call her fondly. It all started in the year 2009 when my dad approved my plan of buying a new bike. My wish list is long while the payslip was short. I was very clear about "what bike" but continued to read all the threads and user reviews so as to make myself ready to face all niggles, what to expect and what not to expect from my bike. Then came the most crucial stage - Making money to bring my bride home.

Though I cleared my Engineering Maths II and Maths III only in the final semester my love on Maths increased as I made calculations for emi, intrest and initial payment day by day. I found so comfortable to spend the whole day doing math and comapring all the quotes from various bankers with no signs of boring. Lesson learnt - calculations are cool!

Finally completed the calculation part and was ready to plan my expenditure to save money for the initial payments. Weren't my parents helping me to get my girl ? Yes, Dad was the first person in the family who gave a go but price of my princess left him speechless. Infact he regret for his decision. He suggested some X, Y and Z brand but I just told him either it is her or no one. Dad know me well and he left the final call with me. Verdict - Dad neither supported my decision nor denied it.

I was sure enough not to bug him for money neither I was in a hurry to bring her home soon. My attitude towards spending money changed and I started doing freelance just to make more moeny. Managed to pull an additional job in BSNL apart from the regular IT job I had. Accumulated more money, worked day&night, no calls to friends, no trips and no hang-outs. Too busy for anything. All done and made good amount of money. Neither my dad nor my mom showed any signs of happiness with the way I lived all those months. It was April 18, 2010 Sunday I had a final talk with my parents about my decision of buying a bike.

Me - Mom and Dad, I want to say something to you,
Dad - I knew what it is all about.....
Me - Only if you are ok, I will proceed else I shall postpone it to sometime later. I am happy with what I have.
Dad - So how much you made so far ? How are you going to manage your other expenditure if you pay the Rs.XYZ as EMI.
Me - Dad, I think I can manage [in a humble tone].
Dad - Ok, if you can manage I have no problem, GO AHEAD!
Me - Thank you so much, We will all go tomorrow to pay the token advance so that I can have my bike delivered on my Birthday.
Dad - Thats fine with me.
Me - Mom..?
Mom - If you guys are ok, I have no problems at all.

It was a sleepless night, I have never seen her in flesh and was thinking about her the whole night.... Nights are too long in India. I hate it.. FInally it was 3 am in the morning. I took Sam [My six months old Doberman] for a walk and he was too pissed that he peed on my car. He continued doing all the best to irritate me but I was super cool to meet my miss.
Finally at 9 am in the morning we left home and reached the girl's place! My dad and Mom showed happy signs after visiting the place. I gave my Dad the token amount and asked him to book the bike in his name while I was busy showing my Mom the girls place. Dad was conversing with the sales guy and the sales guy promised a delivery on my birthday and 'I will keep you posted about the status' he added. We left the place after a good 40 minutes all set..

I was so restless and unable to concentrate on my work, the wait period made me a maniac... I visited the bank and completed the formality. As my salary account was maintained by them the loan approval was hassle free.. Bankers promised me to give the DD before two days of delivery. My manager was so kind enough to approve leave on May 03, 2010 [Since it is Monday had to take a day off..]. Token advance paid, Loan Sanctioned, Leave approved but no update from the dealers. Showed up to the dealers place and enquired about the bike, they promptly replied me saying that the bike was dispatched from the factory and was expecting in the next few days.
Restarted the groundwork again - Yes, came back to xbhp and started reading threads specially the one started by amandeepkamboj19. Glued to Ananth's write up. jd666 idea of sleeping on the bike impressed me but unfortunately I was the rider. Torq update on the bike was informative. Days are dead, took a break from office and rode till Ooty, finding sweet spot for a beautiful pic of my bride, practicing turns and dooing all non-sense I can.
Finally got a call from the dealer on Saturday May 01, 2010.

Sales guy - Hello Sir,
Me - Hey
Sales Guy - Your bike was arrived yesterday night and I just called you to remind you about the balance settlement.
Me - [excited] May I come now to see her??
Sales Guy - Ofcoarse.
Me - I am on the way, will be there in 10/15 minutes.
Sales Guy - Ok Sir, Will meet you then.

I informed to my parents and left home to meet her, I called the banker and he didn't pick up the phone. Tried numerous time and no answer. Very much frustrated. Reached the showroom and they had my next bad news - It will take two or three days for the DD to get cleared and have the money in their account untill which they can not handover the bike. I was broken and left the place without seeing her.

Came back home feeling so depressed, my Mom felt bad for things happened and she did all the best she can do to bring me out of it. Spent the whole day doing nothing and Dad came home after his day work at the office. He convinced me and took me for a ride. I felt so happy to see my Mom and Dad doing all they can to make me happy and after a while I was normal though mind and heart was still dreaming about her.. Night passed and I have one day ahead for my birthday. Though I am old enough to celebrate my birthday with my friends at restuarants, I prefer a cake cut with my family first. Did shopping the whole day and had a quick night sleep. Phone started ringing at midnight, friends calling to wish me a happy birthday - Few folks came home at night and we had a happy cake cut with everyone at home.

Wide awake the whole night, chatting with friends, replying back to the SMS and unpacking gifts. As my leave was already approved planned for a day-out with friends, went to restuarant, a movie and to friends place. Blast continued the whole day. Got a call from the dealer again.

Dealer - Sir, Very happy birthday to you.
Me - Thank you so much, happy that you remember my birthday.
Dealer - Sir, can you show up to the showroom now,
Me - Why ?
Dealer - You are yet to finalise the crash guards and other fittings.
Me - Ok, I will come in 30 minutes. [I thought I can show up my girl to all my friends]

We all landed up at the showroom and to my surprise my Dad, Mom and Sis were already there. Dad came towards me and gave a small box with a big smile in his face. I opened it to find a key and was so excited as I was able to guess what the key is!!!! Gave a big hug to him and to everyone at home. Dealer told me that my dad had already paid the entire amount in cash and the bike is all mine. I was totally lost, Eyes flooded with tears [out of excitement] and with a big smile on face I finally rode her back home...

Yes, she is my pride possesion till date and forever - ROYAL ENFIELD THUNDERBIRD TWIN SPARK. We are living happily together.

WISH ME LUCK GUYS!!

The first bike with your own money is always special. Nurture her and care for her and she will be yours for years to come. Its been over 2 years with mine as of now.. the honeymoon is yet to end .

Default Very cool

Congratulations! A Royal Enfield does inspire such kind of love.

The sleepless night before the pickup date is something I experienced 2 weeks ago when I had a flight to catch to fly to the dealer and ride back my new babe.

And last but not the least, parents and family have this crazy way of doing things that brings tears to your eyes. I still remember when my Dad sent me a DD for the price of my first m/c the Kawasaki KB125 when my first job wasn't paying e enough to afford one.

Have fun.
