So apart from the learning session for all from a senior service engineer, the Yamaha owners would exclusively get a free service inspection, wash, polish etc. If your bike is eligible for the radiator change, then that would happen as well!!! (Aman are you listening!)

So spread the news to fellow Yamaha owners as well!
Hey excellent job done there satyenji !! ... But what would bikers having bikes of other make get from it? ... Will that Yamaha senior service engineer guide them as well ?

@ALL ... I would like to draw your attention to THIS who started it all !!

We should take some serious cues from it and proceed accordingly. Arranging such sessions in a jiffy without proper planning and execution would be defeating the sole purpose of arranging it. We all (or at least the organisers) need to conduct a pre-event G2G to retrospect on preceding sessions, draw a rough sketch of the things to be covered in the succeeding session and get as many issues clarified as possible beforehand.

And in my personal opinion, I think keeping it small and simple (just a plain interaction between the teacher and learner) in the starting would be more helpful rather than roping in sponsors (or likes) and making it more of a commercial thingy at such an elementary stage !! Also I would be in favor of conducting such sessions bimonthly (just like our magazine issues) so that its a continual learning process rather than just a one time bonanza !!
But all said and done, the seniors need to take the initiative and their word would be final and binding to all

WARNING: WALL OF TEXT!
A few clarifications:
1) It’s not a commercial thing. Neither me, nor any members are benefitting from this in any manner!
2) Do not compare yourself with the likes of Chennai, Pune or other groups.. they are on a different stages of evolution! I don’t think we have frequent track days or Lavasa or even the sheer number of weekly meets as they do!
3) Senior members have already been discussing this for quite some time, so it may seem a sudden spurt of events on forum, but trust us.. its not!
4) Such a thing cannot be a bi monthly affair… its resource intensive for both us and the manufacturers

I have got better things to do to make money than this!!! Heck, with so many members I would rather rob a bank!!! The reason why I said it would involve money is to ensure people are serious about it. I am surprised people are still enthu about it!

The Basic topics would be more or less be similar for all the bikes… the idea is to learn, and learn from a proper knowledgeable source.
And I admit I was initially trying to do this from a Neutral source, but it doesn’t seem as if it would work out.

The Yamaha folks would (obviously) work on the Yamaha bikes, they would however help us in watching, learning and explaining! If everything goes well, then may be other manufacturers would take notice and volunteer for this as well.

My take on DIY is simple: If you want to learn, NOTHING can stop you from learning! I was a complete noob once too! Atleast now, I know some knowledge of what goes where in an engine.

A software engineer who quit his well paying IT job to pursue his dream about tweaking machines, gave me the confidence and sparked that interest in me. That man is our own ace tuner Joel Joseph!!!!

heck, even the SVC folks never complained to me about sitting on thier head and both helping them and learning from them too!!

So relax, this is a fantastic platform to learn, even if it means the bikes are not of your make.. and its free!!! I hope other manufacturers agree to help as well!

Make the MOST of it!

Cheers!

Edit: Omega Man, sure thing, would try to get this done via other manufacturers as well! So more meets coming up for sure!

Good one satyen.. I agree to each 'n' every point of it..!!
Though 'make' of parts vary.. But the mechanism remains the same of any other bike. When I try to learn about cylinders, engine, exhaust, torque, etc.. etc.. on the web.. I learn a lot as its not specific to a particular make, but its specific to the mechanism. So may it be any bike, the knowledge would be excellent. No matter what the bike is, but the chain, engine, exhaust, brakes.. etc is fitted in the same place & the same way
It would be my serious productive day to attend this..

Thanks a lot for the above detailed clarification stayenji !! ... I agree with your view point that mumbai thread is unlike other threads but we can surely learn from good things that take place in other threads ... I never intended to compare them .... Only intent was to get good things from other worlds into ours .... Regarding you or others making money out of this, I never ever said anything like that .... I got absolute faith on what you all do and respect the efforts you put in to make mumbai thread so very interesting ... To doubt integrity of any one is not the crux of the points I made in that post .... My only concern was that making it one company centric by roping in a particular sponsor would not serve the purpose of every one attending this meet ... but then I agree with your and dk's point that not all bikes are same and each make has its own peculiarities ... My intention was to keep the first meet a bit simple and cover only the similar topics which are same throughout the makes ... But what you have proposed is not bad at all ... We can surely learn some common points by listening/attending to yamaha senior service engineer !! .... I have faith in your suggestions/decisions , so please take my comments/views in positive way ~!

Yeah man, nothing against you... these ideas do come up, some write, some dont... you chose to write your thoughts which is appreciated! Just wanted to clarify!!!

I dont get offended so soon, so chillaz!

+1 to rachit, basic stuff remains same.... use this as an experience and relate it with when your bikes get serviced... and there you have it! you just DIYed the DIY!
