    Default Bhangarh Ride

After a long and patient wait for a year, I finally managed to ride.

Destination: Bhangarh, one of the scariest places. We had heard a lot about Bhangarh , specially the creepiness and how the place is silent to an uncomfortable level. I always like to visit places which are distant to humanity and closest to nature. It sounded perfect for me.

I have been planning this ride for last three weeks and for some reason or the other it kept on getting postponed. In the meanwhile I met Ram and it was decided that we would be riding on Sunday July 17th.

    The Original Plan:
Leave at 06:00 AM, reach Bhangarh by 8, hangout there for a while and return by 2:00 PM.
I had a fair idea of which route to take and short distance. Never bothered much as it was a short ride and I had my GPS enabled phone and of course our old and reliable L GIS (Localites Geographical Information System)
Little did we know what was in stores for us

    The Riders:

    Yours Truly..

    Ram Khajuria

    The Rides
    Ram's Lime green Ninja 250 R and My UG3 Black Silver P180

Leaving Ram's place at around 11:30 AM

A day before we had heavy rainfalls and the weather was nice. So we decided to leave little late in the morning.
It was around 11:30 that we finally left. I was leading and happy to be on the road after a long time. I was lost in my own world and never realized I had taken a wrong turn. I looked at the RVM and there was no hint of lime green!! (Why would you look back if you have a Ninja followingI know it can easily catch up my humble P180.)
Finally the Ram on his Ninja showed up, I signaled him to stop and take a U turn without realizing that Ram was struggling to keep his Ninja alive, it would just die as soon as he released the throttle. We stopped to check and the Engine oil light was flashing and the engine was getting hot. I thought it was because of coolant levels. The previous day Ram had driven it in heavy rains and through ankle deep water, it could be a problem of water entering radiator also.

The red oil light of Ninja blinking

It was a Sunday and the PBK was closed. We could not take chance with the local mechanics for obvious reasons. A few calls to the PBK and the mechanic agreed to pay us a visit, if only we paid him for petrol expenses (we were after all 30 kms away from PBK). After a long hour wait our angel for the day Mr. Zakir finally showed up. He checked the engine oil and it was all milky white. Water had entered the engine and it caused the oil to turn milky white. It kind of reminded me of my childhood days with Bournvita

Notice the milky white Engine oil flowing under the Ninja

The engine oil and oil filter needed a change. Could not find the oil nearby, Mr. Zakir had to get it from PBK, so off he went.
While waiting we started contemplating could this be the Ghosts of Bhangarh, stopping us.

Some poser pics while we were waiting...

    Curious bystanders

Finally Mr. Zakir showed up again, changed the engine oil and filter and we were ready to roll again at around 3.

After an hour long ride through heavy city traffic and dug up roads we were finally greeted by a fantastic four lane, straight, deserted highway. This is definitely a Saddle sore material and we were both happy to open up the throttle.

We reached Dausa in a blink of an eye, we had to take a left from here and as usual I missed it again.
Took a break to confirm, I checked my GPS and rerouted the journey ahead. From now on we had to leave the expressway and drive through villages. I was skeptical about the road conditions but it turned out to be well laid tarmac and we could easily maintain speeds of 80-90 kmph.
Checked my GPS, at about 12 kms ahead we had to leave the road we were on and take a left. Kept on riding, looking for a left turn, could not find any. Checked the odo and we were already 13kms from the last point. We decided to take the help of the reliable L GIS (Localites Geographical information system) . Locals told us to go back a few kms, ride through the village Andhi (cool name for a village, if I lived here I would call myself Rider from the Storm). We entered the village and soon realized that we were in a middle of a crowded market, no roads and the people staring at us. Invariably I was reminded of the song Bhag bhag D K BOSE D K BOSE bhag, Andhi aayi andhi ayi bhag bhag D K BOSE BHAG . Checked up with the L GIS (Localites Geographical information system) and they guided us to a different route, skeptical we checked up with another local one more route came up..WTF*
By now I had renamed L GIS to Localites Giving Intentional S***.
After few more stops and inquiries we were on the right route. Our F***** up L GIS had costed us a 40 km detour. It was already 06:30 and soon it would be dark. I am an adventurous person alright but somehow I didnt like the idea of reaching a haunted place after dark. We noticed that there were a lot of vehicles coming from the opposite direction. It was quiet unusual for a village road like this. We were 500 mtrs away from Bhangarh and we saw a huge tent setup and some kind of a party going on.WTF arent these people scared of the ghosts or what??

At the Bhangarh entrance one more surprise was awaiting us, it was as if we was in a Mela. There were food stalls lined up, sea of people everywhere, crowded parking . It was a typical scene of any tourist spot. It turns out to be that a lot of publicity on TV, proximity from Jaipur, lovely weather on a Sunday had made all of Jaipurites flock here.
It was seven by the time we entered the premises and it was already starting to get dark. We could see people playing cricket on the lawn, cooking meals for the picnic, aunties and kids all around. Is this what a haunted place looks like??
Utterly disappointed, we decided not to stay long and headed back. Anyways it was the Journey which was more important not the destination.
Saddled up and left the place at around 7:40 and reached home by 9:30.

Seriously man...these stories were the only reason that i decided to pay a visit!! I too have read about the green dog in the trip log of Sherry, tried to inquire about the same from the watchman and he was like 'Sahab kyun majak karte ho, kutte bhi kabhi hare hote hain..'
