Thumbs up A Cool and Calm G2G

Short and Sweat G2G Ride to Bird Sanctuary at Vedanthangal

It was nice to be riding in a group again. this time the destination was Vedanthangal - Bird sancturary; even though its not the season time...we just rode there for the sake of riding. proabably need to explore more new places like the pune members who are more into the unexplored routes.

Woke up by 5.40 am and all freshen up and geared up and left home by 6.10am - it was unusaul for anyone to see a full-geared biker and this time too a elderly couple in my flats were on their daily walking routine who gave a pretty surprised look and a smile when i started riding from my home. after ten minutes i reached the MCC college the meet-up point for the members near tamabaram and i was the first one to be there. Soon i had the Ninja for my company - Sunnyside (Sunil) and we got introduced ourselves by that we had the classic strolling to stop aside us thats Tarun. Called up raghav to check whether all had arrived at the other meeting point near kathipara junction - to my surprise he pick the cal and said 'sorry da. i had overslept and not sure whether all had arrived or not', ok just asked him if he want to make it to this G2G then he got to ride alone to Vedanthangal and we acknowledged it and asked us to move ahead. Meanwhile praveen called up and said that himself, sriram, dev, and rajeev are there and mentioned raghav hasn't yet reached. i informed him about raghav that he his starting late and will join directly at Vedanthangal; so asked them to start and wait near Cresent college for Rajesh. We three too started from tamabaram and reached cresent to meet the group waiting; since we had some few new faces we got introduced ourselves - apart from praveen, dev, tarun, sriram (efunds) i got introduced to Sunil sir, rajeev, sudharshan, sriram (yellow spunk). After some 5 minutes we had rajesh joining us and from there we were all set for the ride. As usual, we had flyin start with the 2 green ninja's and one more ninja - sunil sir, sticked on to our 80+ speed group as he was riding the bike after a long time so wanna get used with his riding.

I was riding in the front with some decent speed around 80-85 and kept on riding, after crossing chengalpet i was more of skeptical about the route to be taken since the last time when i went to vedanthangal was during my school excursion so just, stopped for a some 15kms after chngalpet and checked with our guys for the route. Sriram was mentioning that we got to take a right after some 5-0kms but wsn't sure on which one, since the ninja's had overshooted us, we were expecting praveen to wait for us. Exactly the same happened, praveen waiting for us some 2 km away and he too wasn't sure of the route, so we all sticked onto one groupand started. hoping to expect rajeev that he must also be waiting for somewhere as he was speeding away when praveen stopped. After some 6kms we were at the junction where we got to take a right to vedanthangal. we took a break at this place, for some tea and we soon had rajeev who went in a wrong way and returning back to the junction. Meanwhile checked my mobile for any message from raghav, and actually one was there. He has reached chengalpet it seems so message that we are 12km away from the destination. After some tea, fag and some chit-chat we left for the destination - Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary. Was surprised to see that the roads leading to vedanthangal was nicely laid and which gave us a nice feeling about the place. After 15min we reached vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary, parked our bikes in a safe place. All set to rest sometime and discuss in the sanctuary we moved ahead to get the tickets, the counter guy said that there will very less birds to see with this warning we also gained something, we didnt get the tickets for cameras saying only one camera is there and with not much birds around we have nothing to capture. we moved inside to locate a shady place so that we can escape from sun during our discussions.

Discussion started of with some technical things about the technology, how a guy has hacked obama's blackberry and senteced to jail, by now we had our raghav joining us... appreciate his commitment to attend the G2G by riding all alone. again our discussion started about how one can get their license in india and abroad, how much we can depend on the tubeless tires with experiences shared by praveen who rode his Ninja with a nail puncture for 1500kms.then we had the leh experiences shared by Praveen - giving us the tips and tricks to get leh'ed.his experiences at 16000 feet and the cold nights spent in a tent before sarchu, some tips on what kind of help we can get in case we were struck in noman's land somewhere on the way to Leh. i too got some points for my next ride to yelagiri which i will combine with gingee fort as 2 day trip.

By now hearin all our discussion our stomachs also started giving some grunts hinting us that its time for our breakfast. l started back to our bikes. once we stepped out of the vedanthangal, we had a customary group photo at the entravce with the vedanthangal bird sanctuary arch. all geared - with amusement of the locals looking at our group; we rode ahead for our next place Brindavan hotel for breakfast. As usual praveen went ahead, but after some few kms i saw in distance that some kind of a road block was there, later i realised that praveen had parked his bike aside was sitting in centre of the road for taking our photos which the locals were eagerly watching standing on the other side of the road. we crossed praveen with a thumbs-up sign and went ahead. soon praveen joined us adn we all re-grouped and went to Brindavan Hotel. Unlucky damn, the hotel we went had only 2 items, idly and pongal for breakfast, and that too by the time we checked with ourselves and ordered the pongal also got over and we had no other option except to have the idlies for all with a vada. Idly ws quite ok, to help us in digesting the idly we took we some pepsi and 7up. After settling the bills we reached our parking lot were the fag group was enjoying there fag break and i took rajeev ninja for a spin, Was quite impressed on the brake handling of ninja. actually we thought of having a group photo taken along with our bikes on the enroute back to chennai, but since praveen rajeev got to hurry back home we took a group photo at the hotel praking lot itself. Waved byes to the two green machines and waited for sriram, sudharsan and sriram (FZ) to fill their bikes with petrol. once they are done we rode back to chennai with no stop in between, since the heat started its toll, we all want to reach back home at the earliest. We had to face some traffic in between but was kind of ok considering it being sunday and reached tambaram. said byes to all, me and sudharsan left towards east tambaram and others went straight ahead in GST. Me waved bye to sudharsan who took a left for his home, and rode straight ahead to home.

Overall, it was a pretty good and sweet short Ride G2G; was good to know the new faces in Chennai group. so for the records 11 of us made it to the G2G and their details are following as Name, profile id and the their ride.
1. Raghav(Felix.Ragav) - GS150R
2. Sriram(Efunds) - Unicron

Awaiting for pics; but will give Praveen a little more time for the expectation he has set on his pics outcome
Again, a neat compilation @Bikerfas, just like the same as you've written in the TSG2G.

Thumbs up Thanks Guys!

I had a good time today guys! It was a completely new experience for me and one that I enjoyed immensely.

Meeting up with a bunch of guys who are passionate about biking and spending a Sunday with them was in my book a day well spent. I enjoyed meeting each and every one of you and felt completely at home with the group and I must say the credit for the sense of camaraderie that I experienced goes to all of you.

I enjoyed the ride out immensely with the weather being extremely pleasant and was impressed with the sense of discipline observed when riding in formation.

The ride back unfortunately felt like riding through a furnace and I ended up reaching home and just crashing with the life-force evaporated out of me!!

I'm happy to report that my back hasn't yet complained for the exertion and I hope to join in for the next G2G too!!

Will upload the snaps as soon as I reach the office tomorrow since my equally ancient laptop at home doesn't accept my camera's memory stick thingy.

since me and rajeev broke from the group to enjoy the road ahead.. when i saw praveen park his bike on the side i was surprised "what had happened to the ninja" then praveen moved to the centre of road. i flashed my headlight lol and the guy just sat down.. i was like WTH.. and braked and to my astonishment the guy happily took out his cam with an audience of young local kids sat on the tarmac and started licking pix... funniest moment ever..

i took sunil sir's ninja ! thank you sir.. little review : found it heavy even though it was just 40kilos heavier than fz. probably will get used to it. it has such a nice composure to it. loved its free revving nature and the brakes.. WOW !! they just stop !

Day well spent indeed!

The road connecting Vedanthangal and the Highway on our way back was inviting me for a full rip.

Mapping xbhp nicks with real faces was fun .
