@ all:
Considering the growing Interest in the crowd to buy a proper riding gear, many souls like myself are considering buying jackets from here . The Jackets are Imported from China. Woah! Hold your thought! I know what you are thinking... "Riding gear from China! holy hell! which Chinese product is good!" Here is a testimony from our very own Xbhp. They have a good reputation at BCMT as well. I'll add the link later. The starting price of these jackets are 3000 INR! yes Look at JK -17! The jacket is meant for street use/mild touring and is water resistant to some extent. The recommended jacket for touring would be JK-27, which is water proof as well! This means one less luggage for the tourer! The shop is based In Delhi, so expect shipping to be close to 200-500 Bucks! In case you are worried about the size, the shop owner , Mr. Bhavishya, is willing to offer a replacement. same goes for warranty, if you find that the jacket is in anyway unsatisfactory, he is willing to give a money back! He would require the shirt size, waist size and a photograph just to make sure that the chances of getting a wrongly sized jacket can be avoided. Being a Thumper/Tourer himself, He Does this on lines of a small margin in prices. He is willing to offer a discount on order of 5 and more. Don't expect a huge price drop! A discount of 100-200 per head is the planned number, but that "liter"ally means you can spend it elsewhere ![]() Here is the catch: He's run out of stock for the JK-17. He had ordered 60 Pieces 2 months back and had sold the last one today to some lucky Chennai Chap! The Next shipment is only due in November, so Expecting the JK-17 to arrive in a week is asking for too much! Other jackets are available sparsely. Those who are on a budget can start saving now and get one when stock arrives. If there are any clarifications, shoot a email/PM/SMS to me. Cheers! Typo error from my wife's phone, but I must admit, it had me in splits in the afternoon!!Next - why NOT Ambur? You have something against Biryani? ![]() Lastly, why NOT dinner? We're going out for din-din - not drinks and a date!! You eat dinner, no? Why not with us?? Raghav promises not to drool and I promise not to burp too loudly!! ![]() Quote:
P.S. - Though I do agree that Yelagiri might be an overkill at such short notice. It's almost as far as Horsley Hills!!

I've been following this thread carefully too and I agree with Raghav that it is not right to condemn a product blindly based on it's place of manufacture. My firm imports a large amount of high quality stuff for our projects from China and I can say with a fair degree of authority that China is the manufacturer to the world - they manufacture everything from BMW's to safety pins and since they cater to the whole world, they also cater to all kinds of markets, both high-end exclusive products AND bargain-basement imitations. We in the Indian market unfortunately are more acquainted with cheap Chinese products because that is what is predominantly imported by traders for a market that is more tuned for price than quality - hence the ingrained prejudice. That said, it is also my experience that most Chinese products sold at low prices also look better than they really are because even in China, premium quality costs more and in this case we need to be particularly cautious since it involves safety gear. My suggestion would be that we (when I say 'we' I mean at least one of us from the Chennai gang - not somebody that we don't know) try to locate someone who has a jacket from this company and qualitatively analyze the product, lest we all make a collective mistake. What makes me sceptical is that several of the pictures in the testimony are incorrect. Remember I own a Cramster and the testimonial erroneously marks the armours in the pictures attached. Next, NOTHING from China takes 4 months to ship!! Also I had the opportunity to examine in great detail (though I cannot claim expertise) the quality of both the DSG Phoenix and Spike and subsequently chose the Cramster 2.0 since I found it to be far superior to the DSGs in finish and materials. I'm looking forward to seeing Zaphod's Cramster 3.0 because I anticipate it will be even better than mine. In a nutshell, my advice is this - make your own evaluations based on your own research and judgement just like you chose your bikes, and I'm sure you won't go wrong! Remember "try before you buy"!
