Its festive time for everybody, including those not so lucky souls on earth who miss their parents for some reason God did not tell us why. But God has given us the liberty to be a part of a fraternity that helps such kids.

Service to mankind is service to God!

Most of us have firecrackers pouring in from all doors. Lets take a moment and think of those who can only listen to such firecrackers bursting, but donot have the liberty to actually burst one. Lets share what we have with them. Lets make this diwali meaningful and memorable.

We are about 5 people now, on and off xBhp who have volunteered to share either money or firecrackers and our precious time with such kids on this special occasion. We have found and small group of people who have just started such a service organization and we believe that the help we offer to them at this point will help them stand up and rise to the situation.

We welcome every single soul here at xBhp to participate in this event by being a part themselves, and also by bringing along any of your friends and/or relatives who may be interested. If you decide to participate, please post in this thread, or contact:

Ride information:

Destination: Pondicherry
Ride Length: 165 x 2 = 330 kms
Start time: 6 AM
End time: 6 PM (max)

With the monsoons having set in, there is a heavy possibility of drizzles or rain. We request you to be prepared for the same.

We respect the time you will be spending for these children and highly appreciate the same. We also request you to contribute whatever would help this situation; like money, firecrackers, clothes, food, etc. However, we prefer contributions in terms of money, firecrackers, etc. as it is easier to split it amongst all the kids.

Note: Everything that you wish to donate will be directly handed at the destination to that organization and will not be collected before that.

All ride rules that apply for normal G2Gs apply for this as well. A special reminder for the most important ones:

1. Vehicle Documents including RC, Driver's Licence, Road Tax, etc.
2. Helmets for both rider as well as pillion.
3. Responsible riding. No swift maneuvers. Respect every other rider on the road.

Very good cause.Just one piece of advice.Please go low on firecrackers and instead spend the money on lights(diyas and all),sweets,small gift for children.

Superb!! just what we would expect from you, and i would also go with MG's opinion of getting the kids a lot other things than firecrackers (it is a well-known fact that these industries employ children), well other than that this plan is swell, i'm in all the way and am ready to make myself useful in whatever way possible

EDIT: And one small thing Praveen, my bike is right now sitting at PBK getting it's frame and fork replaced, i'm not sure if i'll receive the ride within that time, so i'll have to tag along with either you or any of the other participants in case it doesn't arrive by then (just thought i should let you know)

Guys, when is the ride planned ? Is it on Diwali itself, 27th ? If then, I might not be able to make it. Being a festival day, I will be busy with relatives and poojas etc. But if it is on the day-before, Sunday the 26th, I can very well make it. If I make it or not, I will pass on my contributions to u guys.

Yes Apar, this is on Diwali. You have a very valid point there. We started this for the sake of the kids and we thought it would be more appropriate to spend time with them on Diwali, rather than visiting them the previous day just because we want to do something for Diwali. However, if we have the majority of the people interested in Sunday, we don't mind shifting the plans.

Creating a new list of members who are interested only in Sunday...

Hmm... Praveen i too think it would be better if the ride was on 26th Sunday, though i have no problem on coming on the 27th, we have to consider the fact that people would like to spend their time with their family on that day, after all Diwali is once a year for them too
