It is also the highest peak in the Bandipur National Park. It lies in the core area of the Bandipur National Park and is frequented by wild life including elephants. Dense fog predominates and covers the hills round the year and thus gets the prefix Himavad(in the native language of Kannada) and the temple of Venugopalaswamy (Lord Krishna) gives the full name of Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta.

It is approximately 220 km from Bangalore and 75 km from Mysore on the Mysore Ooty road -10 km away from Gundlupet, which is 60 km away from Mysore. There is a motorable road all the way to the top of the hill. Entry fee is collected at the forest depeartment checkpost at foot of the hill. Visitors are allowed from around 6am till 5pm. Overnight stay on top is not allowed. Trekking and videography in the surrounding hills are allowed only with prior permission and to be accompanied by the forest department guides.

There is a forest department guest house at the top of the picturesque hill, which can be reserved in advance through the forest office in Mysore or Bandipur. The guest house provides basic accommodation, food and other essentials should be brought along by visitors.

Well…. Avin, Atun and Ninja dropped out at 11th hour for their personal problem. Kiran (arunmur’s frnd) also dropped out. So we are five now to start the journey. We were on time. I appreciate it. As soon as Me n eric reached at the nice road junction, Jeeva called me and informed me to go little ahead as cops were not allowing any bikers to stay at that junction. Me and Eric met Arun and Jeeva. One more person to join. Within 5 minutes go his call. Our Jitz. He didn’t find anybody at the nice road junction. He must be surprised for a while. Did u Jitz ?
We are set and ready to start now. Why late then. Left the place. Planned to make first stop at Maddur Coffee day. Arun was leading and I was tailing. It was fantastic ride at night on Mysore road. We were mainaining 70 kmph average speed. Soon we reached Maddur Coffee Day. At our meeting point I was lazy to take some snaps. We took couple of pics at CCD.

Arunmur, Jeeva, Eric and Jitz

We stayed there about half an hour. Next break we took at Mysore Palace to capture few snaps.

Soon we left mysore. Will take breakfast break at Gundlepet plan was like that. Few kms ahead eric stopped as he was getting some problem on his bike. We took few test ride but was not able to figure it out wat exactly was happening on R15. Suddenly Jitz saw something .....it was crazy ...isn't it ??

such a thick pin...tire was not punctured. we removed that and started moving. Took break at gundlepet for breakfast.

Guys ordered n were waiting....

Breakfast ready ....

Breakfast menu was funny ...

see the first column...brake fast and Fride Rice and see Noodals

After having breakfast we left. After gundlupet the road was really pathetic. Surrounding scenario was inviting to stop n take photos.
