no comments on the topic, no words of praises to OF and Sunny

The reason: Facebook and Youtube blocked on the sysytem + no audio thing in my computer.

Is there a way, other than speaking to OF in person that I can see/read/hear what OF has to say. Why should people like me be deprived of knowledge just because of few site banned/blocked by the server.

regards

@OldFox - Sir, I have a question for you. I recently met with an accident, which I shared with fellow xBhpian-brothers [Yet another crashhhhhhh. Now in this case, the object moved from my left side, and when I had a glimpse of it, my right hand suddenly pulled the brake (Though only use two fingers to pull the lever) & rear brake was also applied. I even stood up from my seat, so I escaped unhurt, but the bike's fairing was badly damaged. What would you like to say in this? Any hint regarding the hand-eye coordination? Could I have done something else, to escape from crash? Kindly suggest.

I doubt if there's anything wrong with your 'hardware' here if I may use that expression for your eyes and brain. Its just that you were NOT expecting anything to come up from behind the Ambassador car and from front. You had decided that your primary and only threat area lay behind you and to your side. You became aware of the approaching biker from the wrong side only when he entered your peripheral vision boundary (peripheral vision is very quick at picking up movement). The sudden braking comes from what is called the 'clench reflex' of the fingers. Whe faced with sudden danger, we instinctively clench our fists and as you had two fingers on the front brake lever, the brake got squeezed in the process.

Two lessons:

1) Expect the unexpected in our kind of traffic. Whenever you have an obstruction in your open all-round vision (as were the cars parked on your left - they blocked your vision on the left side which was where the biker was), expect some danger to lurk behind that and keep a wary eye out for it till you can actually SEE all across.

2) By all means retain the habit of keeping two fingers covering the front brake at all times but teach yourself Panic Braking. The clench reflex is an ally only if trained to respond with precision. Its like learning to punch with precision in the face of danger (imagine the difference between your punch and Jackie Chan's in a fist-fight ) Training and practice is the key here.

Thanks a lot, for the points, Sir...the only thing I'm not sure is, how to teach myself a panic braking...is it like in a open stretch of road (read, tarmac), practising to break hard n stuff like that? Would that help me in panic-braking better in rough patches of the road as well? If you can hint me at least...

I have put up an exhaustive article on Panic Braking in the upcoming Feb 2011 issue of the xBhp magazine. Another month and it'll be with you .

Sir, all praise for your upcoming literature...the admiration is growing by leaps & bounds...hearing those words from you, feels like back to school, learning nature & science, eagerly waiting for the teacher to unravel some mystery [okay, I'm lil' carried away now ]

oh sir i see ur experiences and passion towards biking by the way you talk and the things u have observed sir i was kinda suprised to say that i had also noticed or known naturally or observed all those viewings u were talking about and the kind of seeings during bikings and the way of focussing and all that u were talkin about is very true i once had a major crash after that i used have a keen eye on the road and i tried to make my senses sharper and as a result i was getting some kinda signals or something from the upcoming road i was able to scan the road the structure of road lets say the upcoming traffic the moving or roadcrossing substances the slow moving substances the substances that are not stable and are changing lanes are kinda moving and substanced i had crossed and the distance i had crossed away from a substance and all that and my angle of vehicle and everything and i was able to feel like a warning light in my head when the kinda situation or wave changes when there are sudden changes in road and such above senses usually works for me when i am doin above 70 and my senses are sharp by say 80 kmph or so given that its a broad road and which is kinda less dense and sometimes i even felt that fitting of helmet or kind of helmet is also very important it is most important that the helmet is tight and doesnt block our view and i prefered stayin a bit faster because my senses were great at such speeds when i am goin kind 40 or something i kinda feel not so much in control i feel uneasy and when i am faster than normal traffic my focus is mostly on upcomin traffic and i feel good and i do a good job in a bit more speeds but when i am with or slower with traffic i feel my senses fail me here and there i had to focus more on vehicles behind and around me which i am not able to do too much and now a days my focus is kinda seems like having a problem i was told to wear a spex by a local optician a few years before but i neglected wearing because i felt fine without it and i was great these days without it but now a days i feel my senses are failing me i dunno why my senses have become blunt these days i am not able to be so accurate as i have been a few weeks ago or who knows it just may be because i am imagining that my senses are getting blunts or something

and by the by thank u for the speech sir this is a topic that i have always wanted to speak about by i have neva conversed about it and i just poured out what was in me while these days of riding
