Description:
The Royal Enfield Thunderbird is a cruiser style motorcycle produced by Royal Enfield Motors in India. It was introduced in 2000 with an AVL lean burn engine and 5 speed gearbox. It accounted for over 45 per cent of all domestic sales for Royal Enfield.[citation needed] It has never been exported and remains as a Indian market only model to this day. A 500cc prototype was also created and tested, but it never saw mass production.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Riding comfort, Braking, Pride of Owning an RE
Cons: Headlight, Oil leakage, Can't take turn at high speed,Poor stock headlight

 
I am done with 8000kms in my new RE TBTS (3 months) only.
Have covered majorly in the Western Ghat sections, Bad roads in Kerala, and Kolkata-Chennai GQ.
Its an amazing beast on highway. Tough to handle in city roads.
Its good in 60-85 kmph speed range on highway. Just hold this beast at that speed and sit back and relax. You will enjoy the best of the cruising experiences in India. Above 85 kmph, the bike will start vibrating.

Mileage is good. I got an avegare of 47 on my Mangalore-->Goa-->Mangalore ride and an average of 43 on Mangalore-->Kolkata-->Mangalore ride.

Maintainance cost in the higher side. But, trust me, this is the bike worth pouring money.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): comfortable, low maintainence
Cons: paint job, rusting, vibrations at speeds more than 90km/h

 
Overall this bike is a comfortable touring bike but its sure as hell not a fast touring bike. At speed exceeding 90 km/hr the vibrations are annoying.

The bike has a considerably modest capacity engine, which I believe is under powered by technical standards.The few improvements Royal Enfield has incorporated including the UCE does not completely justify the rather high price. Bikes finishing is raw at the best with pain job coming off within weeks and then rust taking over. The main wiring hub in the bike located under the seat is close to the battery unit, which was damaged by the battery fluid in less than a year.

If RE charges the customer with high prices, the customer expects a product which is at par with expected standards.

I love my Thunderbird, but RE must do more to shows its gratitude towards its very loyal customers and keep its long running legacy thumping.

But on the bright side, the bike (UCE engine) has low or no maintenance issues.I have done trips lasting up to 3000 km in this bike and have had no issues worth highlighting. The engine is very simple and with a service manual and some tools you can actually think of getting your own hands dirty.

May be its time RE brings in some serious muscle in its inventory like the parallel twin Interceptor.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): comfort, good millage, good pickup
Cons: it take a long time to catch its top speed

 
Its is good bike for long trip. The new version is great. I have the new version its simply great to ride. I love this bike but it take a long time to achieve top speed and also its loses little bit of its controlling on high speed.
