And the performance it offers at the price tag, people are often confused why not go for a ninja 650 or benelli 600 sibblings by adding couple of more lakhs. Yamaha not advertising it has nothing to do with the failure of the sales. Performance oriented guys will anyways buy it wether it is advertised or not advertised. And by the way how many ninja 300 and benelli 300 you see on road ? Are they a failure too. These bikes are for niche market and its focused on specific customers. So if the ratio is less, don't think that the bike or the company failed. It is consumer who failed to understand. Yamaha has priced it very nicely for a twin pot CKD no questions on that.

Look if you go to a Benelli Showroom they offer you a test ride. So let's say I wish to test ride a R3 now, to decide on my choice. But do they have one? No! Why is that? Aren't they concerned abt it? No they are not cuz they don't give a shit about their premium segment customers. Atleast in the tier A cities they must make the test ride vehicle mandatory at least in one showroom. Thats why we say they are not interested in promoting the product.

I agree pricing is a delight. Spares are cheap. They have a wide network but they are putting it to proper use. If we ask the dealers about the R3 they say explain some capping shit.. Don't know if they just blaming the Yamaha for their fault or its just the real case.

FYI Benelli is promoting very hard in social networking sites. Again Ninja is not concentrating much cuz they don't make a living out of the Indian market.

Unsure where you're from, in Bangalore, I and my friends test rode the R3 on three different occasions at 2 different showrooms.

Capping of numbers, this could be related to the competency of SVC in handling big bikes. And trust me, any bike is spolied with incompetent SVC so limiting the numbers to specific dealers is actually a good idea, which will keep the customer happy.

Benelli has to promote to gain market as they are not known to Indian folks when compared to Japs. People are used to the names of HONDA, Yamaha and suzuki and kawasaki as well.

And even yamaha is not making a living when they are selling R3 in India

    Cheers,
    Sanjay

In Chennai no rest ride is available! Why can't they arrange one test ride in any one showroom across chennai to be able for potential buyers to get a taste of it? Network is a main concern for which many would choose yamaha over other brands as they can get their ride checked out more easily. So training mechanics is not a big thing when you have a established network. It's not a failure as a machine, it's just their don't wanna sell kinda attitude that bothers me.

    Point. Agreed!

That's exactly my point so they are not interested in promoting. When they are not eager in selling it why did they launch it in the first place? Either do something properly, I mean commit to it or don't.

This is going a bit too much off the topic, anyway, you can try something- Go to Yamaha's website, find customer feedback/complaint section and write to them. I did it twice earlier [2010-2011] and it was taken care of quite well and promptly. See, if it helps!

It's Yamaha Guduvanchery (Vardhaman Motors) at No. 225/A GST Road, Guduvanchery 603202. Tel: 044-47490035. Do mind its 30+ KMs away from the city!

I thought r3 was soo exclusive, that there isn't even a showcase model, let alone a test drive..
