Welcome to xBhp Forums v2020

    KTM Duke 390 Review : xBhp Ride Report

    The KTM Duke 390 ridden and reviewed by xBhp in Australia!

    Intro:     You all know about the KTM 200 and its look alike KTM 125. What we did not know that they were not twins, but a triplet! Bikers and Bikernis please welcome the third of the mini Dukes: KTM 390. However one is no slouch (not that its other siblings were). Here we get you the first ride review of this pocket rocket from our Australian rider friend, Mark Hinchliffe.

    The KTM 390 Duke would definitely be a crotch rocket, from what I have heard it does 0-100 in 5 seconds. Cant wait to ride this one! Though I also feel they should have made some more obvious cosmetic changes to the bike, other than the probable orange frame and alloys to differentiate from its younger cousin. On the brighter side that is something good since it will help keep the weight down! 43 HP kerb is just to good to believe!

      I think this is Indian junta's most awaited bike in years...

      ... The next big revolution if you will, i.e. post the ZMA/P220/R15 (discounting the Ninja's & Hyosung's for their prohibitively high pricing and the CBR for its very minor jump in performance over existing crop of bikes) era 5 years ago that upped the performance biking scene in India up by quite a few notches!

        So thread is up...!!! Duke 390 gonna be overall fair enough for Indian terrain, but I am afraid its gonna be difficult to maintain the bike because of expensive parts....

          Not too many years thought, until some time back no one even knew about the 390! They have done very well indeed!

            Agreed, nobody knew about this bike till about a year or so ago. But people have been waiting for bridge performance bike which is more powerful than the existing 250's and not as potent as the 600's.

            Kawasaki bridged that gap a bit by getting the N300, and hopefully lazy Honda gets a move on and gets the CB trio (400 or 500 whichever).

            All said and done, at the end of the day because of its KTM genes this bike sounds like a super exciting proposition to many.

                really is this question worth that much!! Even the D200 wheelies pretty effortlessly... effortlessly than most of the two wheeled aberrations on the road and given that 340 packs in 43 ponies on the tap, expect that it would satiate the one wheeled cabaret hunger of most!! So, don't you worry about the power wheelies, worry about if the rider would be able to be seated on the saddle for long.. because the power to weight ratio of the D390 is something to handled with a LOT OF RESPECT

                  Nice Bike, nice review....

                    D200 wheelies easily but i want my next bike to wheelie off throttle without me pulling hard on handlebars . Hopefully D390 will satisfy my lust for powerwheelies.

                      The D200 was already a real quick bike and with a much more poweful engine, the D390 is going to be a rocket! So much of power in wrong hands would be very risky if the rider is not aware of the way this bike behaves. Glad that it comes with ABS.

                          Sharing of common parts with Duke 125/200/390 would mean that the 390 Duke would probably be priced (in India) which would be nearly impossible to match for that kind of Power/Price ratio.

                            Oops i see i dint complete the sentence..what i meant was that many wouldn't even realize its a 390... also wouldn't be as bulky for a 390 which would be def fast.. and as said above by @fayad555.. if the price is tempting, it will go to wrong hands... imagine zooming on a 43HP rocket on Indian roads.. you wont even get enough time to brake and end in a mess....

                              Going by the photos above, the bike might also require traction control in wet weather. For amateur riders at least.
