On one hand, getting such high performance bikes is an absolutely delightful thing. But on the other hand, it is extremely expensive no matter which brand you are buying - whether it is Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Triumph, Ducati, Benelli, Honda, BMW or anything else!
Consider Expenses part first - assuming you ride with moderate aggression and are not very conservative rider (if you are, then you shouldn't be buying such aggressive sports bike in first place, should you?)
In every 12-14 months period, you will easily spend something like this on ANY brand (it can be more also!) - ask the service centre clearly about thess things before buying. My experience is based on TRIUMPH Street Triple related expenses but it will not be too different for others.
Front Brake Pads - Rs 5500 - 7000
Service (including Engine Oil Change) - Rs 7000-9000 (Some brands ask you to service after every 4/6 months also - in which case each service may seem cheaper but overall expense will still be this much or even more)
Tyres - Rs 16000 - Rs 30000 (some people wear out only rear tyre faster and some people ride such that both tyres wear evenly - my case is the latter - when you need to change BOTH tyres at roughly the same time)
Chain Clean + Lube - Since you need to do this every 500 km or so, you will easily spend 1500 on Chain Lube/Cleaning alone in this period assuming you do it at home - showroom will charge you much more
Petrol - You can't expect much beyond 18-19 kmpl practically from any bike in this segment unless you restrict riding on only the highways and not in the cities - but then there is no point if the bike is not comfortable in almost all regular conditions you face!
These are bare minimum things that you mostly can't avoid spending on. If you decide to spend more, there is absolutely no limit!
You also need to consider longer term expenses for getting into this segment.
High quality gear - Helmet (at least Rs 15000), Gloves (at least Rs 7000), Jacket (at least Rs 16-20000), Pants ( at least Rs 12-16000), Boots (at least 15000-22000)
All the above gear will need replacement between 3 to 6 years considering that no crash happens and only normal wear and tear happens due to frequent usage.
HONDA is the only brand whose spares and service are slightly cheaper within all the names I mentioned.
Now coming to actual BIKE selection:
Among the two models you have selected, Kawasaki Z900 definitely has an upper hand as a product. It has refinement, street presence, service network, performance and handling as really strong points. It is also of nearly same weight as the Suzuki GSXS 750. I would suggest Kawasaki rather than Suzuki between these two.
But no decision is as straight forward in this segment.
Don't buy without test riding two formidable competitors - Triumph Street Triple 765 (S/RS versions) and Ducati Monster 821. Sure, these bikes are more expensive - but there are very valid reasons for them being expensive - they have far higher quality components and light weight advanced chassis than Kawasaki/Suzuki. Street Triple RS is even more expensive but comes with advanced electronics also.
It is very difficult to beat Triumph Street Triple as a daily comfortable office commuter bike which is like your homely cat that truly transforms into an aggressive Cheetah during a weekend ride - all at the twist of your wrist!
Hope this helps you in making the decision!! You can also read about my experience about Triumph Street Triple in my thread
