. If its all about straightline, then guess what you need is a salt flat then, not a track.

Then again, hyper bikes werent designed for the track. On track Its the corner speed that matters and the average street rider will get plenty of that at the chennai track regardless of whether he's on a 600, 1000 or 1400. Karizma and RD wont touch the hyperbike at chennai, atleast not if the hyperbike guy can ride reasonably well in the corners. You can do 150kph with your knee on the deck at chennai and probably burst upto 250 on the straights on a hyperbike. I guess my idea of fun is slightly different, for me the straights are the boring bitsOriginally posted by insaneroller View Post

Well the rush I get out of taking high speed turns leaning is way better than the straight bursts. So I guess i'll head there one of the weekends. My statement was from the numerous 1000cc & above riders who claimed that the track is small for a 1000cc & above bike.BMW X5, CIVIC
ZZR - 1400cc - MONSTER
ZX12R, ZX636, SUZUKI GUN
1984 RD TWIN STOCKISH, 1984 RD TWIN MODIFIED, 1942 TRIUMPH CLASSIC 350

Thanks for the clarification, unless your bike can d about 250kmph in 3rd, I think you can get your bike wound up a lot higher on either of the tracks and if I am not mistaken a 2005 r6 got wound up to about 267 on a speed gun at chennai back straight and Kari has a 800mts long straight, imagine what you get going there?Originally posted by insaneroller View PostDude, both those tracks wont allow a hyperbike to go past 2nd or 3rd gear max. You'll find a karizma or RD or any 600cc bike will be taking the hyperbike. So those tracks aint worth it for a 14R or Busa. Noida is coming up with a killer track but god knows when it'll be ready. Noida outer roads are awesome for straightline bursts.
@isbkracing, its a simple black box that bypasses the ecu set speed limit on the hyperbikes as per law. De-restricting it will enable the bike to reach greater speeds. So if you are on the Salt Pan, you can manage to touch 380kmph even.

Not saying theres anything wrong with straightline speed, i've been on that trip before and i can understand it, theres just not too many safe places to do that here, especially on a hyperbike.Originally posted by insaneroller View PostWell the rush I get out of taking high speed turns leaning is way better than the straight bursts. Just FYI, theres a different riding style for both the 1000's and the 600's, most guys riding the 1000's at chennai dont know the correct technique thats why they're slower than the 600's. Also most modern 1000's are actually as small and flickable as a 600. I'm sure i'd do faster laptimes on a modern 1000 at chennai than a modern 600, its just the technique.Originally posted by Streetfighter View PostThe 600s easily outrace the 1000s at the chennai track due to better cornering ability. The 1000s will easily outrace the Busa or the Kwacker on any RACETRACK due to the same reason.Last edited by Killer; 01-30-2009, 07:57 PM.

Sorry, didnt get that...was that an attempt at being sarcastic? If you ride like a nincompoop then yes, you can expect to total your bike, else you're better off than you are on the street..by a long shotOriginally posted by Bladerunner View PostAnd total your bikes too!Last edited by Killer; 01-31-2009, 12:02 AM.

No, that wasn't sarcasm. In fact, I was told, Kevan, you and some other guy from the south crashed recently when these guys had come over. Tell me that's not true.Originally posted by Killer View PostSorry, didnt get that...was that an attempt at being sarcastic? @rossiter - While i understand your reasons for moving the discussion here, thats also probably killed any further discussion on the topic. I wanted to clear up a misconception but doesnt look like thats going to happen. I dont think what i said above has been or will be understood, unfortunately instead of asking questions people choose to just keep quiet, seen it so many times before *sigh*Last edited by Killer; 01-31-2009, 12:11 AM.

But then that happens through a street ride too, and maybe more. Just that riders often get high on the controlled conditons at track and probably go that little extra mile. Its not the track or the street, its just that moment when everything goes against you.Originally posted by Bladerunner View PostAnd total your bikes too!

Sure. But, would you want to try that when you can afford just one bike?Originally posted by manson View PostBut then that happens through a street ride too, and maybe more. manson.
Of course, we know that those guys can since they change bikes like undies.

Sure i crashed, and that sort of thing is pretty common when you're racing at a professional level sliding front and rear and gunning for that last fraction of a second. When that happens to a beginner fresh off the street who is nowhere near competitive pace, then something is wrong with the riding. A rider can go way faster on track than he could dream possibly off on the street. The biggest reason most beginners fall is coz they try to go too fast too soon. Its not a fault of the track, hope you get my drift.Originally posted by Bladerunner View PostNo, that wasn't sarcasm. Not everyone who rides a bike, rides to be competitive.Originally posted by Killer View PostSure i crashed, and that sort of thing is pretty common when you're racing at a professional level sliding front and rear and gunning for that last fraction of a second. I have two people in my family who have/are competitive on the track. One is a multiple go-karting national champ and the other has been the best rider to have come out of India who would look down upon you like you tried on me in the last post. So, you see, there is nothing you can tell me that I don't know about racing on the track. Its just that I have never done it before or I might have made the bike talk instead of my writing.
Besides, are you trying to tell me that you were being competitive against these Bombay guys and trying to win an event when they were there for some time pass?

Gentlemen, let's not get ahead of ourselves, and take ourselves too seriously. This discussion is taking an unhealthy turn. Let's put a stop to this shall we?
