Lightbulb Uniting against negligent service providers/dealers

It is safe to say that the universal gripe in most ownership threads is substandard service from bike dealers and SVC's. From being ripped-off to being taken on a wild goose chase for the simplest of spares besides running pillar-to-post for even half decent services are something each of us has faced at same point or another.

I was wondering if we can use our community to possibly exert some accountability on service providers in due course. If we start building a database of sorts based on personal experiences of each member, rating both the good and the bad - then I believe ultimately (lets say 5 years?) the sheer size of xBHP might make people sit up and start being more responsible or at the very least help fellow members save a lot of time, money and peace-of-mind. The fact that we the consumers dont have a loud enough voice renders dishonest business practices inconsequential.

Call this wishful thinking but I've seen some very determined and aware members of xBHP who have the callibre to sustain such an endeavour.

Its a good idea, but how would you handle situations such as a dealer being good & bad to different people? Do you categorize that dealer as good or bad or may be good, may be bad?

Most people do not like a specific YMIS showroom here & my first experience wasn't much different. After several visits & getting to know about people, I can say it with confidence that, I'll be able to source most parts for Yamaha from that specific showroom. That's the same case with another friend of mine with a different dealer.

Also dealers respond to different people in a different way & there're several situations to it, like, I might approach the dealer through a common friend to which the dealer might be friendly. The dealer could be friendly with another matured gentleman. The people working at dealership can change with time & its the people working at the dealership give the experience.

IMO, its all perspective & depends upon how well someone handles the situation & befriends with them.

    +1

I guess even that experience of yours (with the YMIS) would be valuable to others, right?

Another challenge is to establish that the stories are fair.
However, even a basic level of quality experienced by a member can give others some impetus to try out that dealer/provider. For example, If I were in your city, I'd be trying out the dealer you spoke about since I know that in an establishment, not all grapes are sour.

As for the selective treatment of dealers, perhaps we can share amongst ourselves those connections so that people at those establishments take a friend seriously. Since bringing about a business ethics revolution is deliriously wishful, we can at least share references and experiences to some effect.
