A nursery student shd not come to give a matriculation exam.. Simillarly a person who does not even understand the most basic of motorcycle tech should not even bother about modifying an engine.. First he should learn everything he can on his own. Then ask questions. Being gentle and spoon feeding are different things.

We are all adults here. I didn't say don't correct him, I'm just saying don't put him down while doing so. Isn't XBHP a brotherhood of bikers? We all entered this Forum will less or half knowledge. How will this forum be a good environment for learning if we correct everyone in a rude manner?

I'm pretty sure there are things that we all think is correct which is actually wrong. We will never know unless we put our views forward and someone corrects them.

You got me wrong brother... Yes, I am harsh with my words.. But it is practical.. People learn in stages.. The thread starter should atleast make some effort from his side to learn before starting a thread asking for help regarding something which he has absolutely no understanding of.

The thread starter has made an effort by opening this thread, shouldn't we be encouraging him? I understand your frustration with people constantly mouthing off like they know how everything works and our first reaction is to be rude. Just a life lesson I have learned, you can be practical and harsh or practical and gentle. Both get the message across but one way is easier to listen to and one way makes it more difficult.

    Hello friends wonderful topic,
i am riding an A220 for 2 years and the only thing i felt not good was the bikes 5th gear does not felt like a 5th gear at all. felt something was restricting it between 80 and 110 kmph. i am not bothered about crossing 110 kmph, just want to know how to make it feel nice between 80 and 110 kmph. if someone could guide us to overcome this difficulty it will be a great help for us (the A220 owners).

What could be the cost to replace the Head with valves and Camshaft, carb and ignition. does the timing chain need to be changed....and what if i am only changing Head with valves and camshaft.

Is that Rev limit of A220 is less than that of P220.

Or any possibility to replace the 5th gear of A220 with P220's to make it some what relaxed than the stock.

    thanks.

    Change sprockets?

I considered it, but it will change the final drive ratio.not so good for the gears 1-4.those are very useful in mountain roads. to compensate sprocketting we need to increase that 1.6 nm lost while detuning the engine by bajaj.
my point is some thing is restricting it may be the smaller carb or by CDI. while cruising upto 70-75 kmph you wont notice a thing, even with the 4th you can do 60 without any noticeable vibration. but from 80 kmph things are different you can feel some stress.some times you wont feel that gear is changed from 4th to 5th. i dont know whether it is due to the long chain or not. but it is the something that we can change, and it will be beneficial for all avenger 220 riders.

In the p220 you can do 45 in the 5th gear and pull staright to redline. Wont happen in the avenger. It runs on a smaller carb and has a detuned head. You need to change the head and carb. Electricals, I am not so sure about as I dont know whether the avenger uses a the same sensor package as the 220. If yes then you can use the cdi as well.

    friends,

Compared the parts list of Avenger 200 and Pulsar 200,

main differences are Carb, Airfilter, clutchplate and CDI. Pulsar 200 having an extra temp sensor in the cylinder head.(exhaust design are different but i think exhaust valve is the same).
So there may be no difference in the core engine design(valves, cam, crank, transmission etc).

Assuming the same method followed by the bajaj to detune the avenger220.
    How i should start
1)change the Carb and Airfilter(Any idea to accomadate the pulsar airfilter in to an avenger or any adaptable and compact airfilter comparable to the capacity of pulsar 220)
    2)change the CDI

    thanks.

The main reason behind this is the character of the bike itself. You can't get it to go smooth above 80kmph like a p220 because of the bike's stance - the cruiser stance of the avenger is because of it's rear tyre - a 15" , while p220 uses a 17"
A 17" gives higher top end comfortably. Upgrading the avenger's rear tyre to a 17" if not impossible, will make the bike lose it's character.
(I tried experimenting with a 16" enticer tyre and back to 18" on my p150classic. There is considerable increase in top speed and smooth top end)
