Alongwith what @Mik wrote, would like to add that this would require the seniors, the core team to personally look into matter and then plan it.
Its something that cant be done with just few members who are willing to travel. it has to be done from the top level.
What @MG said is also true, that plan was all fuss and nothing happened. No idea what happened, but I guess participation and eagerness from everyone is required for this type of meet

My comments in bold and IMHO

Something of this magnitude won't be possible without corporate sponsorship in my opinion. Also, with India Bike Week already successful, another parallel event of this sort won't be easy.
    A few things needed

    1. An exotic destination. For all its oranges and wild life sanctuaries, Nagpur is not Goa! The destination should be some place scenic or touristy so that more riders are enthused to travel there. - Not really, meets like this are less about the destination, more about the brotherhood, any place we find... I'm sure people will find interesting places to ride around it. Plus, very touristy places are best avoiding to avoid the crowds

    2. Drive from xBhp HQ itself. - Not mandatory, a few folks with enough patience and drive can do it. We've been having interstate G2G's down south since 2008, with almost 100 odd riders turning up, managed just fine till now. And I'm sure this can also be managed quite well by a group of patient and driven individuals

    3. Sponsorship - lots of it. - Why? Sponsors won't pay for everyone's fuel, AND that will be biggest expense of such a trip. Unless ofcourse people are expecting to be put up in 5 star comfort

    4. Weather and holiday calendar sync. Independence day is this time on a week day. So by default all office-goers have 3 days at hand. A mega event around that time will see a big participation hopefully. - Agreed on the weather bit! But if its a pan-India meet, most folks will need more than just 3 days of leave, and this why the initiative died down the first time.

    5. SBKs :-P Unfortunately, SBKs seem to be the biggest crowd pullers for most. Have a dhaba g2g with a few sbk's and see the response.
But, in seriousness - having some of the bigger clubs on board for this event will do wonders for participation. - Disagree! Seeing SBK's is not going to be the motivation for a majority to ride thousands of kilometers, that is something they do by just heading out to the closest CCD outside their town on a Sunday morning

For destination, I would still vote for Nagpur as its central to everyone.

Why do we need hundreds of bikers, the recent ISGTG of MH KA GJ AP had only abt 35 riders but was amazing nonetheless, decide a location, fix a date, I am sure there are enough dedicated members from each state to ensure a great GTG and enough leaders among them to gather a respectable attendance. The motive is to ride and meet the fellow brothers, 3 months notice wil give enough time to gather leaves and plan for it.

Awesome idea guys let's make this in happen.. For that we need to execute this idea in very proper way. Work out on place and dates to be fix an such a manner that all the members here could get ample time to arrange their leaves.. Coming back to location somebody has suggested central india could be possible destination for this pan india ISG2G - Yes. Nagpur can be better option as @MG said.. I'm definitely in for the event

Hopefully this time we are able to do it
yes, this time we will be able to do it, i have a gut feeling...

Actually IMHO, corporate sponsorship is not required, everybody pays for his own expenses, and it works just fine, Although sponsorship is always welcome, but remember, with sponsorship comes responsibility to perform upto the expectation of sponsoring party, and the concept of ISG2G is more about having fun together & to bond with like minded riders from other parts of country, i.e. a more casual approach, rather than something which looks like a "India Bike week"

    A few things needed
    1. An exotic destination. For all its oranges and wild life sanctuaries, Nagpur is not Goa! The destination should be some place scenic or touristy so that more riders are enthused to travel there.

I agree, exotic destination adds to the appeal. also equally important is that roads leading to the venue are in good condition. as experienced, nobody likes to ride on broken tarmac, specially towards the end of journey, when fatigue levels are high.

    2. Drive from xBhp HQ itself.

although this is not a mandatory requirement, any help from xbhp core team will definitely help

    3. Sponsorship - lots of it.

as mentioned above, sponsorship is not required as such, but is always welcome, if provided unconditionally

    4. Weather and holiday calendar sync. Independence day is this time on a week day. So by default all office-goers have 3 days at hand. A mega event around that time will see a big participation hopefully.

although this kind of G2G will require more than 3 days, planning it around a long weekend will definitely help.

    5. SBKs :-P Unfortunately, SBKs seem to be the biggest crowd pullers for most. Have a dhaba g2g with a few sbk's and see the response.
But, in seriousness - having some of the bigger clubs on board for this event will do wonders for participation.

i do not agree, both the recent G2G's at Daman & velneshwar were great success, although there was not a single sbk at daman, though DK did bring his fireblade at velneshwar, but it was lone sbk. inviting other biking clubs will invite unneccessary chaos.

    My pick for a destination

    1. Any place in rajasthan (August is fine with all those rains)
    2. Shillong (participation will be a problem for many though!)
    3. Pune outskirts (the weather and the hills will be fab)

my suggestion for destination, Goa, Around Pune, places like ooty, etc...nagpur has no attraction, there is no beach, no mountains, no twisty roads, its too plane jane. ( i was born and brought up very near to nagpur)

If a destination is finalized, atleast two months notice should be there so that people bringing bikes on trains will be able to book in advance.

I guess we differ on the style and magnitude this event.
If we are thinking something like a sturgis/IBW kind of setup (hundreds of people+events) we will need to plan for hopefully hundreds of bikers from different states. This in itself is a logistical nightmare and would require co-ordination with local authorities apart from dedicated parking space/living space. This can only be driven by sponsorship and some level of full time effort by some folks. The reason an exotic location (with August being an off-season) makes sense is that there will be lots of hotels easily available plus it gives an added attraction for people coming from distant places to ride around. I am still skeptical about Nagpur
3 days of holidays coupled with 4 days of leaves (in some places it might be lesser due to various regional festivals around the same time) will give 9 days in all. SBKs add another dimension to this. They put up the event on a pedestal and everyone does take notice.

If a hundred bikers can co-ordinate effectively amongst themselves in the interstate G2Gs, then a 'brotherhood' ride kind of thing can work too for sure. But, it would be entirely different from a sturgis/IBW kind of setup.
What would I prefer -- a brotherhood kind of ride - but a better destination! Oh yes, I need to be filled in with the Cheetah episode!

Edit: @princesirohi I think I have partially covered your points too. Its all about the kind of structure we have. My personal vision would be - camping somewhere near pune on a rainy weekend. I am very partial towards pune!
