To my knowledge that design feature is present in the Xtreme series too. Looking at that jugaad just to get the engine in that frame is rather alarming when you factor in that Xpulse 200 is made to hit the trails, do jumps and sometimes even take a fall.
Please guys enlighten me on this.
These designs are well tested and can endure a lot more than you think. They are tested on the software, and also in real life situations, it is not a jugad at all !

Whoever calls it jugad has basically no idea about automotive designs.
If the material beam is expected to handle a load of 150kgs in real life, it is tested at twice that limit.

And you can make whatever holes you want as long as the design passes testing phase.

Sometimes the welds are stronger than the metal itself. Cheers !

Guys, i have a real concern regarding Xpulse 200. Recently, i have taken the test ride of Xpulse 200T and 200Fi. There is something that really bothers me, the engine seems smooth and vibes doesnt creep in till I deliberately try to rev it out. However, during deceleration there is an odd sound resembling BBs shaking in a tin can. This sound is evidently present in the Xpulse Series, upon enquiry with the service mechanics, they suggested this to be tappet sound and it will go away after first service.
Seriously, product goes through QC before being delivered. Please guys enlighten me on this.

As far as i know it is because of higher compression ratio and the type of camshaft used. Similar idle clatter can be observed on the 2016 model hunk/xtreme 150cc, the new glamour and on the 110cc engine. It will feel like little loose tappet sound but it is not.

So it isn't a major engine or QC issue. Thanks a lot for settling my concerns.

Went and took a longish test ride for the Xpulse 200 (~5kms) and ended up booking one. However here are my candid observations:

    The good:

    - Good build quality
    - Bike has great presence, looks BIG!
    - There is no oversell here, does exactly what you would expect
    - Is comfortable to ride and can be perfect with minor adjustments (for me I would probably change/adjust the handlebar)
    - Ride is sorted and inspires confidence. This is a great entry point for off-road novices
    - The price is right for the package (FI is 1.28 L OTR in Delhi, bark busters and metal bash plate included)
    - Its a hero and so expected to be easy to own (maintenance, longevity, support)

    The not so good:

    - Engine power felt lacking
    - Hard gear shifts(but could be because the bike I rode was quite new)
    - No ownership reviews yet

So not too many cons but the missing power is playing in my mind. If I cancel my booking this would be the only reason. Otherwise this is an honestly well done bike. I have to applaud Hero here for bringing this to the market.
