Umm... Well, let me Admit. Yes, I'm looking for "acceptable" Mileage.

I mean, obviously 16 kmpl is better than 10 kmpl or 8 kmpl ... because I would be owning my next bike for about 7-8 years atleast ... so, have to consider all points ...

Despite being a rich guy, I can't forget that the source of money is my Dad ... right?

@ Manson: Thanks for the precise Idea about this ... By the way, any plans of coming to Rajasthan soon?? I'm still stuck with my MBA ...

Yes, that's the reason ... I mentioned it a bit humorously earlier but it was deleted ...

Actually, I don't want it to drop below 14 kmpl ... Afterall, a 600 should give so much.

Riding a vehicle in the highest gear may save syou fuel, but if that is creating engine lash, you are going to savrifice on engine hardware which may just be a lot more expsnive than the fuel you may save.
Coming to the kmpl, most bikes irrespective of 600/1000 in a normal state of tune would yield 13-15 kmpl in city, and 17-20 on highway runs. Infact you may even have 400s only yielding a 15 kmpl.

Samarth: Not headed to Rajasthan anytime soon for sure, lemme know if you're headed to bbay.

    Question

Ok, I have a little question then in this superbike general thread.

Yamaha's Vmax(new) is out. From whatever specifications has been recorded,it is a Fast Bike. But if you are considering a club of Suzuki Hayabusa,Kawasaki ZZR1400....................can the new Vmax be included in it ?

I think new Vmax is not entirely a Mega cruiser. Its rather a very fast bike, thus deserving a place among the fastest production bikes on earth............isn't it.

Vmax to me is a very weird bike

It's got an engine to kill anything on the face of this earth other than the turbo busa, yet has heavy handling, coupled with a naked feel, which essentially limits the top speed factor alot.

Nevertheless, you just CANT argue with 200+ horses!!! Just CANT!

the vmax is more of a cruiser than a sports tourer. and there is a reason that it seems to be faster than the litre bikes. according to the stats the vmax has a 1670 cc engine but weighs 310 kilos . even if it has 30 horses more than a litre bike it weighhs over 100 kilos more . shifting the power to weight ratio heavily towards the litre bikes

the reason its so fast is because of the torque the big motor generates coupled with the short gearing for the comparitively low top speed.

litrebikes are geared for the track and the first gear is generally good for over 150 (about 160 on my zx10)

if you had a running start from about 100'k onwards it would be a pretty good match with the litrebikes , and i would say the litrebikes would probably win due to the weight advantage

    Cheers

Really! If you say a 600 will give 13-15 kmpl, it is fine for me ... 13 is acceptable enough!

BTW: Sorry, my MBA is still a year & half long ... so, can't visit B'bay in the meantime!

@ greyanaroth & csgup1: Agree that VMax has something strange to it ...

But again, it's about torqueyness only ... We know that despite it touching 200 PS, it does so at 9000 rpm only ... compared to 13,700 rpm on the Desmodici RR (V4) ...

That means it's the "hyper" torque that increases the bhp rating so high, despite low rpm ...

So, Comparison with litre class/ sport tourers appropriate? I don't think it's in the category of Hayabusa & ZZR 14k ... It's maybe a Cruiser, or all in one ...

Csgup is right on the money. I rode with a V Max and it did pretty much what it is touted to do.

Besides, it was very imposing on the rest of the bikes, and had a natural Bow-to-me-puny-trackers aura towards the rest of the bikes.

Comparing the top end of the V Max with litre bikes isn't fair. In fact, comparing the V Max with any other bike would be a crime. It is a lifestyle vehicle, much like the Harleys. Except it'll be filling any HD's intakes with its exhaust fumes

    PS: Samarth: What's "hyper torque"?
