Default should I travel with speed less tghan 40kmph

    Hello Friends

I just got a new R15, I wanted to know whether there is a rule to travel at speed of 40kmph or below for first 1000kms for a better performance of engine. If yes than how can I join with you all for Allegator lake ride and so then I need to wait for 1 month or 1000km of coverage :-(

    regards

If you ride at 40kmph for 25 hours you will complete 1000kms...

Check your service manual for the speeds you need to maintain in each gear. I think the max speed would be about 60-65 during the first 1k kms of running in!

Congrats on the new ride! The manual says avoid prolonged usage at above 5K RPM for 1st 750kms.&after that 7K RPM for the next 750kms.
I kept mine at around 4-4.5K in each gear including top gear, which meant upto 60kmph. till 750kms.&started taking upto 7K in top gear after that, upto 1.5K kms. (After that all hell broke loose) That should do fine if you are concerned about not messing up during the run-in period.
Btw, Moto tune is not for our Indian mopeds. They won't be able to sustain the beating.
If you do higher speeds, take your bike up gradually, it should still be fine.

As I discussed with Yamaha Service guys on this query, he told me that the new bike engine come up with factory finish, mean the engine have tiny iron/steel parts and they must be remove from engine, while riding it will fragment from the engine and mix up with old, if you ride higher RPM, it could damage cylinder slave or other engine part.

Best way to make smooth engine quicker, do long ride in Highway with low RPM and do 1st service ASAP. (also replace oil filter on 1st service in case of R15).

This is my opinion and observation. You can ask some senior members or Yamaha Service Guys

Engine Breakin procedure is very long and there is lot of technicality around it.
Take time to read the information in the link and search for some videos why it is done so.
