Default Day 2 & 3: Jaipur & Jaipur to Udaipur

The Monday after reaching Jaipur was spent exploring the motorcycling culture of the Pink City. We met up with two very well known names of the land. Rajputana Customs and Convoy Control Club.

The first stop in the day was at Rajputana Customs where they took us around their workshop and showed us how it is done and why they are the best at what they do in India. The bikes were in different levels of customization, some were skeletal, others were nude and the rest were the final works of art! But each and every motorcycle was a work of love. Love of a man who is crazily passionate about what he is doing. We saw the entire team at work, and the due process of quality check that goes into the system of creating these unique masterpieces.

    Motorcycles motorcycles everywhere

The Convoy Control Club is a Vintage and Classic Motorcycle lovers club, that was started in 1995 by Upendra Shastri in Jaipur. Today after almost 20 years this club has grown in size to 160 with a wide and unique collection of motorcycles. All these vintage bikes are put on display once every year at an event organized by the CCC! Infact the Rajasthan Tourism has partnered with them to make this annual event a great success. The club sees participation from places like Agra and Delhi as well, they also make sure to invite other motorcycling clubs as well to the event and give them space to display their motorcycles as well. Infact, within a day, i.e. 31st of May, the CCC will be doing a "No Tobacco Day" ride with the Rajasthan Patrika, the largest read newspaper of the state. The Jaipur police also gives them the tag of the official biking group during the Road Safety Week organised in Jaipur. This is not just a club of vintage motorcycle enthusiasts, but of bikers who want to contribute back to the society as well. We salute their spirit.

A few more pictures from our ride from Jaipur to Udaipur. An unused airstrip on the way, where we had a bit of 'fun'.
