Exclamation Major Issues with TVS company and showroom coordination! Help Required

Sometime in December my bike had clocked around 10,000 KMs and it got some real bad steel against steel sound from the engine despite the oil levels being normal. I gave it for service saying that my oil seal was leaking, so was the engine packing and a zillion other problems in the bike.

On taking the bike from the showroom I noticed that nothing much had been adjusted... they probably just changed the oil and they told me that they had changed the clutch coil magnet under warranty.

1 day later...the noise returns...the clutch locks up... the oil continues to leak from everywhere. I return the bike for service on Jan 13th..and till today the bike is still at the showroom. The guy at teh showroom had not started any work on the bike even though they said they would return the bike in 2 days...they demanded me for a new tyre saying that the old one is fully punctured and completely worn out.

So I went around looking for a new tyre as the showroom guys - refused - to start work on my bike without the tyre . I looked out for Michellins, MRFS , whatever I could get and guess what ...they dont have the same profile as Apache 180 . you cant fit higher profile tyres of the same alloy size without 'welding' some parts.

If anyone here knows what tyre can be fitted on the apache 180 without much adjustments...please help out

So yeah I asked the service center guys what tyre could be fitted and they're like "I don't know". The head mech of the service center said "he doesn't know. I'll give you the alloy ..you go look for a tyre."

I accepted to their thing and I asked them if I could come and look at the service cause so far all your services have been very bad . They replied - "You ask whatever you need.Other than that mind your own business"

So I went to meet the manager of the showroom - Koohinoor TVS Chennai - for those who want to know . I told that guy this is the scene and he said he can only get me the tyre and other than that you can't do anything about it.

    - Point to be noted by all - TVS in chennai doesnt have stock for Apache 180 tyres...ANYWHERE. Their factory does not send them tyres either .

The manager calls up the factory and he's like Customers waiting can you please send some tyres to the showroom as soon as possible?

The guy said no...The manager lost his cool and he goes like " I dont want this issue to leave my office . Please send tyres. Bye"

He told me he'll get me the rear tyre...I asked him when and the reply was He doesn't know.

If anybody on XBHP knows how I can let the higher authorities know...PLEASE..PLEASE HELP ME.

You are correct about the tyre size for the Apache; the 110/80 is unique and is not available from other Indian manufacturers. I would suggest you fit a 120 profile tyre from any other manufacturer. In any case, the standard fitment TVS tyres are rubbish when it comes to grip!

Refer to TVS Motorcycle Ownership thread. Search for Torq's posts there. You will get email IDs of some TVS's higher ups.

PS: If I were you , I would have switched to a 120/17 tyre or the R15s tyre!

For service assisstance, u can use the mail IDs given. For the tire, u can use even the R15 rear tire or any other 120/80. Since ur bike is an RTR180 with a 17-inch rim, u got zillion options to choose from... I have no experience or idea with Kohinoor TVS, Chennai but I have tried GOODWILL TVS and RAMKAY TVS. Both of them are good. I wud recommend either of them...

Default Re - apache 180 tyres

dude, rtr 180 comes with a 18 inch rim, i suggest you go for Pirelli 110/90-18 tubeless. tvs tyres suck big time. i have pirelli tyres on my rear wheel. they beat even the mrf's for grip and the tyres don skid at any condition (unless you lose the balance).

The apache with R15's rubbers were tested on track and it makes one helluva difference.

i dont understand what does the tyre have to do with the oil leaking and the grinding noises from inside.

Tell the service centre to give you a clear estimate of what the issue is, what parts need to be replaced, and as a customer you need it on paper. Simple. Any attitude on their part, just tell em that you are calling up TVS head office and will bring this to their attention, and lodge a formal complaint in CORE against their dealership.
