reviving al old thread of mine... from what i read around on forums , some have stated that the apache tappets "ring like bells" when hot , etc... so i guess the "harsh" sound i was hearing after driving around for sometime is actually the tappet sound....

just a word , when that sound is hard, i almost feel pity to take it above 7k, almost makes me worry about the engine breaking something or other

so i wud just like a word of confirmation as to is there any "health issues/risk" in ripping the engine when "quite generously" heated up after say a 20 km long drive at 70ish speeds ?? pls let me know just 4 the peace of mind wid the new machine....

its completed 1k kms, and i am occassionally feeling like ripping it little bit now and then.....

You will find MP enterprise, they keep good quality helmets and do remember to harass them to bring down the price!

And about mineral oils,TVS Tru4 oil loses its viscosity pretty much earlier and becomes mineral water after some hard running which is not good for the engine.Look for Elf moto4 gold,Shell or if you find Motul mineral oil, then it will be the best for your bike. But all these oils has to be in the same W40 grade!
it is nothing serious i think... because the bike is running fine.... Only high temps, and high revs bring in that harshness.... i guess thats normal.... will get used to it.... will go oil hunting in wellington, if i knew any shops name / nething then that would hav helped.... dont know a thing.... besides there is also the "genuine" quality factor of the oils i hav 2 get....

The dealers arent patient to abide by run-in.They WILL trash your machine. They wont waste time taking your bike for registration riding @ 60.

On a casual chat i spoke to my friend @ a YAMAHA dealer about this and when i asked abt them abiding run-in,he just laughed.
Well before we learn to ride and maintain our new rides, i guess the people who are selling it to us need a good lesson in handling.... This is sad......

But the bike was running fine and the worry faded......

Well if the One-way clutch has gone kaput then Electric start wont work, and the new batch of RTR's have the new one way clutch!

2> Do Noe expect that RTR Fuel gauge to be accurate . But if u want to know exact reading just put ypur bike on main stand for a min and then it shows exact amount of fuel in Tank.

4> 42kmpl is what i get in mix riding ( i own EFI) so i think is should be least 44-45kmpl in ur case. Mine is 55000kms old and still gives me 50+ under sane riding . Check Spark Plug it will give idea about AFR ration on which bike is running .
1)i guess the engine heat causes the sound to change somewhat.... cuz my semester xams are on, bike is laying around in garage, and today morning was just checking.... so it was just fine, smooth and sweet :-) and last time when i noticed it was after riding it for around 10km.....

and its not tappet noise .... hav read it a million times thru the rtr pages, will xperience it in some days to come i guess

4)will do.... check the colour thingy and report back.....

another thing, after 1st service, 2nd is 2 months and also few thousands of kilometres away (on the odo of course ).... so when do i go for another engine oil change and what do i put in ? Nething different in mineral, or the Tru4 TVS type only ?

Tappets won't become loose now,the fuel of any bike is not accurate it just gives you an approx amount Of fuel that is left.mileage will increase after 2nd And 3rd service
Don't worry buddy just enjoy your new bike

The sound is fine by engine standards... Nothing really alarming.... Only that the sound was a little smoother just when the bike was new, and the engine is more "audible" nowadays .... The bike came after almost 6 months of pleading and planning so i am a little tensed about its well being thats all....

Also i am getting a mileage of around 39-42 before first service.... SVC guy was telling it wud go up by 3rd service .... Is that fine ?? By what i see people do get quite a lot more mileage under "sane" driving conditions (which is being followed in this run-in period)...

Also is the fuel meter in the RTR responsive and accurate ? cuz mine seems to b quite sluggish and varying at times .....
