Two stroke era is over. So what ever spares you'll find now might not be there in future. So the decision is yours.

    @SriramEfunds - I live in bangalore(Near Indiranagar).

I have been on the look out for a good mechanic for quite some time. I have visited 3 different mechanics but none of them have been able to resolve this issue. All of the give me the reason that its RX and it can't be any bit quiter than what it is already.

As per Option1, you are suggesting changing the muffler(pipe at the end of exhaust) to a new one ?

Option 2, changing the whole silencer(exhaust pipe) which costs around 1900. Can you confirm if the ones for Rx100 is available in the Market ?

If you live in Bangalore the best place to go is DTW Yamaha in Shanthi nagar they are the masters of two stroke Yamaha's and they even make performance accessories for 2 stroke Yamaha's. So when you look for a good place go with DTW
    Yamaha RX100 (1993)
    Yamaha RX135 (2000)
    Bajaj Pulsar 150 (2004)
    Yamaha FZ-25 (2017)
    TVS N-Torq (2018)

^^^DTW charges a BOMB for any work, almost double for everything and for what reason is beyond my scope of understanding. If you want to go in for something really radical and yet safe. try the tried and trusted RDD - Mr. Chinoy. People have different opinions about him,I myself never done business with him, but is there is someone who knows how to tune 2strokes its him. Can't guarantee that you will like his attitude though.

For the silencer trouble, simply ask or get the silencer cleaned. It called "burning" here in Bangalore, it will burn all the oil and make sure to "burn" the muffler too. Costs about 200-250 bucks. The crome will not be effected, but incase you have the silencer powder coated, forget about the powder coat. Adding a 135 muffler altered or stock will never reduce the sound and adding glass wool over it like adding oil to the fire. The bike will run super smooth and no noise, but initial there will be a lot of smoke to live with, i must warn you.

P.S why you want to reduce the sound of the bike. Hell i make sure that am coming when i arrive on my 100.

Stay away from DTW. The oldies there have left and the work done is shoddy. If your flute is damaged then installing a new one is the only solution and for that you needn't go to DTW. Any local mech can do it.

I am not sure how quiet you expect RX100 to be though. If the exhaust assembly is not damaged and the sound you are getting is like that of any other RX100 then I suggest you don't meddle with it.

@asif - Thanks for all the information provided. I felt the same about DTW after talking to couple of people around. As far the silencer goes its coated in black(must be power coated).
I was never for Glass wool as it gets damped with Oil in few days and I really don't feel good about that and yes the performance does go down....so I have taken it off completely.
I am planning to get a new RX100 muffler and replace it and check

I seem to have a bigger problem, the mileage seems to have gone from 33kmpl to about 20 kmpl right now after service(1 month ago). The reason for service was vehicle was leaking oil and I wanted that fixed but mileage has taken a big hit. The fuel leak did not stop, another mechanic fixed it by replacing a faulty "Float Pin" but mileage is come down drastically.

    Any inputs will be appreciated.

Thanks NitinGirish , I am not thinking of DTW for the same specific reason. Its when people like you share their personal experiences and help others to make a better choice.

After some theory sessions to you on this topic. Get down to practicals. Go change and see it for yourself. That's even better to learn the difference.

On it, trying to look for a RX that I can replace the silencer with

Check with couple of people around my place but there were not ready to do this, have asked a local mechanic to let me know if he gets one that we can try with.

Will try it at the earliest ...Thanks again for taking time out to provide all the information you did

My call is to leave it as such, coz any measures to cut down the exhaust note will lead to a serious performance degrade.
