Default Heating Problem after changing to short bottle(Indore) silencer

    Hi All,
Today after completing my run-in(3000 kms) and after 2nd service, I went to JC Road and got my silencer changed to short bottle(Indore) silencer made for UCE..It is a non free flow silencer and I am very happy with the thump. However I felt that I feel heat the heat near my bend pipe or brakes....with my stock silencer this never happened...not even when it rode it for 35 kms at a strech...I am worried..What could be the reason..Is my engine overheating...Do I need to go for carb tuning etc? I love the sound and the looks of indore and I am pretty ok to compromise on mileage...but not on engine...Pls help me out with this...

Hello Akhtar, do the following: Firstly, ensure its on neutral, then start the bike while it is on stand, and keep it idling.
Do you notice some automatic flickering in rpm? I mean, Rpm raises and lowers by itself (without touching the throttle)?? If rpm is unstable, then your bike definitely needs tuning.

(I'm not sure if your Royal Enfield has tachometer or not. If it has a tacho (rpm) meter, then you can see if the needle is flickering. Otherwise, you can judge from the engine sound)

Yes, aftermarket exhausts do need AFR tuning. Even my exhaust needed tuning to let more fuel in the engine, as the airflow is now increased. So, tell me, does the engine speed flicker up and down by itself?
After you confirm this, it will be easy to diagnose your bike.

Hi Akhtar,Remember me from the other thread? Even I liked the thump of the Indore silencer and got it installed on my electra. But I faced the same engine over heating problem. Other problems were increased vibrations, popping sound on deceleration and loss of low end torque. Not to mention mileage drop by 4. I tried carb tuning but in vain. So I switched back to the stock exhaust after 500km. The bike is smoother and pulls well in low rpm. The thump is muted though. But after facing so many problems it was better to forget the thump and do what's good for the engine.

Hi, I just completed my run-in (3000 kms) on my electra and was planning to change my silencer to Indore for the love of thump. My Mech (authorized by RE) warned me not to tinker with engine performance. But I was still open for the change until I came across this thread. Now I have changed my mind not to tinker with the combination. He had mentioned the same thing about engine over-heating and decrease in the mileage. I am not going to compromise on more important things. This thread was an eye-opener.
If you are still planning to go ahead with the change to whatever silencer, then I can give you the contact details of my mech, who even said that he can work it out to minimize the after-effects. You take a call.

    Thanks all.
