KTM DUKE 250: CAN ABS FAILURE console error

Hi,

I've seen the error "CAN ABS FAILURE" multiple times while on long rides. This error stays on the console for a few seconds during which the ABS light will be ON and the warning light flashes. Most of the time it clears automatically after 5 seconds. I mostly noticed it while riding at around 80 km/hr speeds and braking or maybe I didn't notice the console at other speeds.

I gave the bike in service center and the mechanic rode it and reproduced the issue. He mentioned that he checked all the electrical sockets etc., and fit them properly and after that he couldn't reproduce the isuse.

I've found only one post regarding this error https://advrider.com/f/threads/husqv...363127/page-15. They also point at some loose connections.

I'm glad that the mechanic fixed it. Wanted to know if anyone faced an issue with CAN bus before? This is quite dangerous since ABS is TURNED OFF during those 5 to 10 seconds.

I went for a long ride in the weekend and saw this error five times on the console. I'll talk to the mechanic again or check with ktm help directly.

Yes, I raised a complaint with KTM and the service center guys checked all the ECUs. They told me that they flashed / updated all of them. I didn't see this error after that. I still didn't go on a long trip yet. Will keep the thread updated if I face it again.

This post was not updated. Thought this info might help other.
In my case this was because of ABS sensor cable near front tire, at the brake disk getting rubbed against the disk which caused the cable to short when I applied the brakes.
This in-turn caused CAN bus failure, triple speed digits(the only time I hit 399Kmph ) and ECU failure.

Solution: Just locate the part of the sensor cable which is rubbed off and put an insulation tape. Problem solved...

KTM service mechanics took 2-3 weeks to decode the error codes from the ECU to figure this out. But not blaming them since this is something of a corner case.

I forgot to update the post.

I did see the CAN ABS FAILURE error multiple times even after they flashed the ECUs. In my case they found the problem with the ABS modulator and replaced it under warranty. I didn't see the error after that. I think the issue is solved.

Replacing the abs modulator hasn't fixed the issue. I took the bike out for a quick ride and noticed the error again...
I'll try to reproduce the issue once more and then raise a complaint with KTM. They seriously don't know the root cause of the issue.
