Default New TVS Victor BS4 - Front Disc brake mild squeal sound continuously coming !

    Hi Xbhp,

I had Hero Honda Splendor loyal to me for more than 14 years, recently I exchanged and bought TVS Victor BS4.
After first service, I noticed squeal sound from the front disc brake. Took it to the service they put some oil and gave to me, it was fine for only 2 weeks then again same sound.
This time too took to them they blow air and gave to me. No use.
Next time they cleaned brakes, next day itself sound came.
During Second service too (2100) too told them that problem still exists, they again cleaned. Problem not solved, so comming to xbhp fourm.
Kindly advice, is it normal or something serious as it is related to Brakes.

Thumbs up Re: New TVS Victor BS4 - Front Disc brake mild squeal sound continuously coming !

    Topic Approved.

Check visually, if the disc is aligned ok, if its not bent. Even without a crash, the disc may get bent if something crashes into it in the parking lot, or someone tampers/ vandalises.

If that's ok, Use some sandpaper and clean the disk itself properly, and check for oilyness on the surface. You may use mild soap after this sandpaper cleaning.
REMEMBER- Disk pads soaking in grease is the biggest reason of squealing brakes. Just about any oil is NOT to be applied on the pads. But since service center guys did that...

Purchase and use a good disc brake degreaser (non-oil based) and use it on your brake pads. I've heard isopropyl alcohol can be used, but I don't advocate it.

If however the squealing doesn't go and you feel that the pads have been destroyed and have absorbed oil/ grease within their whole structure, then you can opt for disk pad change.
