Icon4 Honda CBR 250 seized engine repair cost?

Hello there everyone, i live in Punjab. Yesterday i found a CBR 250 at a aftermarket dealer, but the engine was seized he said, Rest of it was all working he said. He offered it for 20k. Does anyone know what is the cost of repair of seized engine of a CBR 250. And what do you guys think the deal is worth considering or not?

Thumbs up Re: Honda CBR 250 seized engine repair cost?

    Topic Approved.

The deal seems good. Focus on the engine part. How much more work is needed? If its a seized engine, then you might need to replace the block, piston and also the gaskets.
Also, you must know the running of the bike. How much kms has it run?

In any case, ensure that the bike doesn't cost your above Rs. 50,000 total. It doesn't seem to be in a very good condition, though that may just be its presentation.

Thanks for approval of the topic. Coming to the topic i have asked a local mechanic about the repair cost of the engine, he said replacement of all major parts like cylinder, piston, crankshaft, connecting rod etc. would not take more than 20k, but i am suspicious that if the repair cost is this reasonable why wouldn't he sell it after repair and earn much higher profits. Main concern is the condition of the engine.
Anyone knows about full repair cost of a CBR 250 engine?

Just got the price list for the engine parts
Cylinder kit (including piston and rings)- 8700
Cylinder head (excluding the valves)- 12000
    Crankshaft (including connecting rod)- 9700
    Valves - 2810

I think they might be useful for anyone, so posting.
All the prices are in INR.

I can say that, if only the engine is seized, then you will need only the cylinder kit which should cost Rs. 8700. Usually, engine seizing means that the piston has scraped the cylinder wall and caused physical damage. That will be solved.

Has the owner clarified that the bike can't be started? If possible, try starting the bike. Even after partial seizure, the bike can be used, although it will sound ugly and may leak oil.

In a very rare case, valves may have to be replaced, if they're bent due to contact with piston, but as long as bike is not modified in any way, this is unlikely.

Crankshaft I think is not required to be replaced.. But if there's a genuine problem with the crankshaft then maybe crankcase will also be replaced, try knowing the price of crankcase.

But, you will need to pay for the labour and the engine oil too. So, we're looking at about Rs. 12000 of expenses or so.

Of course, we're on the internet so I can't possibly examine the bike any further than this... I guess, you may go forward with the deal if it is able to start in neutral...
