Thumbs up Problems with an idle CBR 250R. (on behalf of rameshb)

I'm posting this on behalf of user @rameshb who couldn't post due to some email issue... Please help the member.

My CBR 250R was lying idle for a year .. the tank and fuel pump got rusted. Service center quoted about 35k (tank + fuel pump + misc).
I need suggestions on how to go about bringing back my ceeber to life without loosing my kidney in the process.

My own assessment based on the explanation that the service center gave was that just replacing the rusted motor of the fuel pump and cleaning the tank would suffice. The service center folks showed me the fuel pump. I got in touch with a spare parts dealer in delhi who said he can get me the motor for about 3k. If it is feasible, with guidance from experts here, I can get the fuel pump fixed on my own and then hand it over to the service center for general servicing.

    Thanks,
    Ramesh.

@rameshb, fuel pumps are serviceable for the most part. The fuel pump motor, the pump fuel filter and the wiring clips can all be serviced thoroughly. A rusted motor can be replaced with a third party motor and the fuel pump filter cleaned throughly and yes, the motor costs in range of 2.5k to 3k. What I'd suggest is, you can remove rust from your tank by using acid removal process which can be done at a tinker shop or one who specializes in body shop, hence the tank can be reused. The fuel pump, as I mentioned, can be serviced by replacing the motor and cleaning the system well.

Before that make sure you replace your air filter, inspect/clean your spark plugs, replace your coolant, engine oil.

    Keep your observations posted.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
