I have installed HID in my gladi 2006 model. I took my bike to bangalore for dc conversion. Ruby Electricals in bangalore do that. Then purchased HID from Navnish. You can find him in xbhp itself. Then installed HID in my bike. I changed my battery to exide 7ah. Costed total around 5000.Originally posted by biker_bala View PostHi proud owners of Gladiator, this is my first post in this thread. I do own a Gladiator DLX version (silver color, disc break and electric start) bought in Jan 2007. It has crossed 24K on the odo now and gave a decent mileage of 52 to 59 based on how gentle was i to the throttle. Basically, i have never crossed 80km/hr in my gladiator since i always used to ride it in chennai traffic. From may 2011, i have gave it to my brother and riding a RE TBTS. Quenched my thirst for long drives in this bike. Since i drive mostly in city and my brother drives a lot for his business, planning to give the TBTS to him and getting my old war hourse back by the end of this month.
In my gladiator, I have changed my battery to Amaron MF one and changed my bike tyres (back one is CEAT GRIPP - reallly good).
If any of you have done some modification to your bike like changing it to DC and having a HID installed in it, having a mech ABS installed, any performance mods etc, let me know. Because i am very much interested in to and planning to do that in my bike.

Hi, All,Originally posted by havish999 View Postguys have some problem.. last week gave my gladi for service in yamaha factory shop in pune. the bill came to around 3400. they changed chain sprocket spark plug and other cables. but there was no pick up at al. then when i enquired with them they told carburettor needs to be replaced. costing around 4000. but as far as i know carburettor does not gets damaged for 23000kms. my bike is 5yrs old and clocked 23000kms. any advice on this guys.
I am in the process of resurecting my brother's 2006 Gladi. I have purchased some of the spares from Yamaha authorised spare outlets in Mapusa and Panjim, Goa. The details are as follows:
1) Brake pad kit Rs. 130, 2) Race bearing kit Rs. 294, 3) Shock oil Rs. 116, 4) Front shock dust seal Rs.92/pair, 5) choke cable Rs. 27, 6) Clutch cable Rs. 74, 7) Throttle cable Rs. 67, 8) Cylinder head gasket Rs. Rs. 95, 9) Gasket magnet side Rs. 20, 9) Gasket crank case Rs.34, 10) Rocker 'O' Ring Rs. 24/pair, 11) Spark Plug NGK CR7HSA Rs. 70, 12) Spark plug cap Rs. 70, 13) Rear brake shoe kit Rs. 250. These prices are inclusive of VAT. 14) Castrol 4T 20W50 oil ( 1 ltr ) Rs. 260. 15) Front shock oil seals are not available here, but managed to get look alikes for Rs. 175/pair. It was a rip-off.
Unfortunately, I kicked the bike and jammed the piston. ( I suspect there was water in the engine oil ). I have to open the engine but spares like oil seals are not available. Have to place an order for the same. A set of chain and sproket with Yamaha packing costs Rs. 1200.
Can any one on the fora help me in suggesting genuine spare dealers in Goa other than Yamaha outlets please.
Thanks
Regards,
Merv

I would suggest you take ur carb to another mechanic and show it. The low pick up might not be a carb problem.Originally posted by havish999 View PostFirst i noticed some sound in engine, then took the sc then they rectified it, that time they told carb needs to be replaced. Now there is no pickup at al in my bike. I will upload the image of bill by night!
Was the whole change worth it? Does it need a 7ah battery to operate?? What about the recharging rate of the battery??Originally posted by havish999 View PostI have installed HID in my gladi 2006 model. I took my bike to bangalore for dc conversion. Finally i got what the problem is,Originally posted by prashanth lobo View PostI would suggest you take ur carb to another mechanic and show it. The low pick up might not be a carb problem.

Today morning i went to the sc again and asked what is the exact problem. Then they told me the Diaphragm of the carb has worn out. And when i asked can't u replace that diaphragm then to my surprise they told NO and told whole carb needs to be replaced. Then i immediately called mangalore sc and spoke to the service head. Then he told me diaphragm can be replaced. Guys plz note for reference, the carb diaphragm part number is 5YY2441110 and costs Rs 104. So its very clear that these sc guys in pune were cheating me. I really had the worst experience in YAMAHA FACTORY SHOP which is located in Wakdewadi,Pune.

Well the change is worth it bcoz the light is extremely powerful bright white light. and 7ah would be needed if you have self start in your bike. But my bike is kick start so 5ah would suffice but i went for 7ah. And about the recharging rate i guess it should be 0.3C ie 0.3 times the capacity of battery. Iam not sure about it because some ppl even recommend half the capacity of battery.Originally posted by prashanth lobo View PostWas the whole change worth it? Does it need a 7ah battery to operate?? Even i was thinking the same when i first heard ur problem. Most of the parts on the carb can be changed. Good u got that sorted out.Originally posted by havish999 View PostFinally i got what the problem is,

Okay. Even i have been thinking of visiting ruby electricals from a long time now. But have always been in two minds. I asked about the recharging rate because in the light thread, people recommend a change to ape rectifier. Im sure ill be giving this mod a thought again. Realised yet again today that the headlight on the gladi is like holding a candle at speed. Hit a pothole hard on the highway.Originally posted by havish999 View PostWell the change is worth it bcoz the light is extremely powerful bright white light. and 7ah would be needed if you have self start in your bike. I just want to know if your Amaron battery is a wet ( with distilled water ) or dry ( gel ). I have visited the Amaron Pitstop and have been advised against using a dry cell as the starter takes a higher load of current. They say a wet battery is good for bikes like Yamaha. Please advise.

I know the question was directed to Bala. However, I am using Amaron Pro Bike Rider battery and I am facing no problems. Its a dry cell battery.Originally posted by merv View PostHi Bala,

Battery
Hi Prashanth,
Thanks for the post. I'll try to get that for my bike. Do you use the AP-ATX5L or the AP-ATX9 battery. If you use the 9AHr battery, do you use the original rectifier that came with the bike? I'm waiting for the ordered parts to arrive. Cheers.....

Spare Parts
Sent an email to Yamaha Motor Company on January 30 enquiring the availability of some critical parts like piston - block kit, valve kit, chain - sproket set and carburator. Received an email and a telephone call today asserting that the parts are available in stock. Placed an order with the local dealer. Lets see when they arrive. Cheers......
