^^^ true ... most people don't understand that a sports bike is a different breed... for analogy... you can't ride a thoroughbred horse to its potential with a side saddle... Side saddles are meant for show horses...

A sports bike is built for a purpose the same way a fighter plane is built for a purpose, it is not a commuter, if you ride the jump seat of fighter plane don't expect the luxury of the Dreamliner.... strange as it may sound to most - Pillion riding requires as much skill as piloting the bike...
Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

    Echoes the same.
I feel very disinterested in taking it for short trips here & there or to commute to the town/city.

And true to the analogy, it isn't really comfy & cozy on the R15.
It's demanding - just what riding a sports bike should be.

I turn it on and it lights up gleefully, does the self-check and stands by for ignition.
A wide grin appears on the humble needle's face; it knows what's coming - a joyride to the redlines.

    Its trans music.
That bugger charged 250 for coolant top-up..
When I showed it requires 250 ml, he said it needs more, also in the radiator and all..

I dont think the top-up required that much.. Any comments?

    The charges:
    Oil- 470 15W-50 Semi-Syn. Is it Ok? Manual says 20W- 40/50
    Oil filter- 167
    Chain clean- 100
    Chain lube- 100
    Coolant- 250

    Total- 1087.

Is it somewhat similar to others?
    Thanks!

    Hello

Lol , For coolant Top up = Rs.250 ? My point of view is , He had cheated you . Why I'm saying because , The coolant needs to be Top up When the coolant liquid is completely dry .The coolant Mark . For Top up they charge sum of Rs 50 [ Maximum ] . If the coolant is finished means , they used to Charge a sum of Rs.250 for Re-filling i.e Radiator capacity 0.59 L ( Including all routes ) and coolant reservoir capacity up to maximum level mark is 0.25 L .. Got it ?

    Water wash - Rs 60 , Coolant top up - Rs 50 , Coolant refill - Rs 250 , Chain lube - Rs 80 , Chain Clean - Rs 60 , Oil Filter - Rs 160 , Air filter - Rs 160 , Engine oil - Rs 420

Note - These are the price quotations in my city ( Chennai ) Tamilnadu , Southern India . Price may subject to vary according to each State .

    Hi All,

I am also going to get my bike serviced for the first time, is there anything special that I should be aware of?

Rear break sometimes squeal when it is used, it seems a bit iffy..

Also I have some questions regarding run in:

Manual says we can run the bike till 5000 RPM for first 500 Kms, My bike has done 450Kms approx. and I usually ride at 60-75 which is (4000 - 5000 rpm in 6th gear), is it alright?

I shift to next gear at 4500-5000 Rpm most of the time, is it ok to do so?

Also I try to be as smooth as possible with throttle and increase RPMs slowly and keep bike in 3k-5k Rpm range because below 3k engine feels too slow.

    Thanks in advance....

Post I ould like to share something with you and Answer to your Queries are here

    [QUOTE=shreyassave;784061]

As you said comments are appreciated, here are mine.
    Replies to 8, 11, 12, 13, 20 & 22- You and your friends are BRAVE, must say..

No servicing. 600 Kms on the ODO and 132 Km/hr at what RPM, can you please tell me?

Also, I think the White LE doesn't have the sticker which reads "Read the owner's manual carefully before riding..."

Check the heating stuff, can be critical.

Handling and the tech is where our EXTRA money goes..

First of all , i would like to share something with you ..

    I'm still waiting for my bike R15 V 2.0 , 50 th anniversary ..

Hello . As per the owner manual First servicing in 1000 km's or 30 days ..

First , i would like to share what all the things i will be performing in my bike .

    1. I will be putting petrol in SHELL Bunk only . I will be putting SHELL Super unleaded petrol only .

    2. I will ask the Service mechanic to perform Chain clean , Chain Lube and water wash in First 200 Km's on the ODO .

    3. I will ask the Service Mechanic to Change the Engine Oil ( Recommended by the Owner's manual ) , Engine oil filter and clean the air filter if necessary and
Chain clean , Chain Lube and water wash in First 500 Km's on the ODO.

4.I will ask the Service mechanic to perform Chain clean , Chain Lube and water wash in First 750 Km's on the ODO .

    5. When the ODO clocks 1000 Km's , i will leave my bike for the First Free Service - I will ask the service mechanic to Change the Engine Oil ( Recommended by the Owner's manual ) , Engine oil filter and clean the air filter if necessary , Coolant Top up and Chain clean , Chain Lube and water wash .. I will also tell my observations to the service mechanic to correct the Errors . For Ex: Gear shifting , Vibration , etc .

    Note -
    =>For First 500 Km's on ODO ,I will shift 1,2,3,4,5& 6th gears at 4 k RPM and i will maintain the bike @ 4 K RPM or below ..

    =>For the next 250 Km's on ODO ( i.e 500-750 km's ),I will shift 1,2,3,4,5& 6th gears at 6 k RPM and i will maintain the bike @ 6 K RPM or below ..

    =>For the next 250 Km's on ODO ( i.e. 750-1000 Km ) ,I will shift 1,2,3,4,5& 6th gears at 7.5 k RPM and i will maintain the bike @ 7.5 K RPM or below ..

=> After my bike completes the Run in period ( i.e. 1000 Km's on ODO )
and First free service , I will shift 1,2,3,4,5& 6th gears at 6 k RPM and i will maintain the bike @ 6 K RPM or below .. ( 6 th gear @ 6 k RPM = 82-85 km/hr , I love to ride the bike at these desired speeds ... I am a city Rider and I'm not a Racer and I Don't even Show off my bike , even if other guys in Moppets/Bikes overtakes me or if they show some Circus on the middle of the roads .. On the hole , I don't care them at all :P )

    Comments are Appreciated ..

    Answer to your Queries -

First , Thank you for your appreciation ..

His bike crossed 550 km's on the ODO and he maintained as per owners manual and he was very curious to check the Top speed of his bike , even before 1 st service .. I just Gradually Rev. the bike and the Rpm needle was on " 9.8 k RPM and the speed was 132 Km/hr " ..

Yeah i agree . Handling , Technology , Performance for the Extra cost .

Dont take me in a wrong way S.V. Its just that as per Owner's manual, you guys didn't follow what was supposed to be done.

I dont know what harm it does, but as per the manual, it should be avoided.

There's a saying, "curiosity killed the cat". This is what I mean to say.
Even if he was curios, you should have avoided it, as you are knowledgeable.

The same thing was done by me.

I went to take the delivery of my Friend's Karizma R. He was the pillion, and told me "I wanna feel like a King".. Out of this curiosity I twisted the throttle slowly and took her to 110 for 15-20 secs and came down to 80. This was 17 months ago, when I hadn't joined XBhp, and I just knew how to ride. Didn't know what is run-in, as I got a used RX.

You guys might be the best of buddies, but when your bike comes, he might tell this to you- "Doesn't matter yaar, mere bike pe bhi to kiya tha"..

My friend never told me this, because he knows, I was unaware of it.

I just want to make sure, that all the Babies stay fit and fine forever!

    Hope you understand.

Regarding the plans about your bike, this is what exactly I did.

    Under 4K < 500 kms.
Changed oil & filter at 300
    Beyond 500 kms at 6 K.
    After 600 kms- 6.5 K
    1st servicing at 680 kms.

Planning to keep her under 7.5 K till 1500 kms.

Change Oil & filter again, and Let her sing for me!

Shifting @ 4K rpm to 6th gear is really an overkill... Either dont use 6th gear for the first 250 kms or shift to 6th gear atleast at 5k rpm...
