Yes, in that case it would be a very difficult choice and most probably I'll go for the ninja. The ninja looks substantial too, something that commands attention. I for one like a little attention.
But like I wrote before, for the price there is no beating the duke 390.

I spoke to the Chennai Adyar Showroom again for laughs (they are quite upset that I call them so often). They said that deliveries would happen during the last week of September which means October is when things would get all bright and sunny for those waiting for the Duke 390.
The waiting period for the Ninja 300 is 2 months here while the Duke 200 gets delivered in 3 working days.

I got to know that a few bikes for delivery have arrived in Bangalore and they will hold an event soon to deliver them to the first few people.
        Showroom guy told this.

Just arrived from KTM at Phoenix Mills,

Took test drives of both duke 200 and 390 inside the complex (the showroom guys made a lame excuse that test drive is not allowed on road because both are very powerful bikes).

Anyways first rode the 390 and was really amazed by the pull, even pulled a slight power wheelie in first gear but had to leave the throttle because of those damn little speed bumps that are there every 30m or so.

Then rode the 200 but the pull was not as strong as the 390 strange as most people complained that 390 lacks the pull.

The showroom guy said that the first lot is going to arrive in first week of october.

October....... I am aghast. Hope this is not true for Delhi or rather any of the states.

Halo and Congratulations to the 390 owners

I have booked mine and waitng for the same, and reading all the information about 390 available on the internet, like many other fellow xbhpian's.

One thing which is talked/ discussed/ fretted about is the Bike Heating up in Slow moving traffic (also learnt that, it is a common attribute of high powered bikes).

so, i thought of an idea to overcome this "heat issue". (I have NOT tried this on any bike so far, as i do not own a bike, which poses me this problem)

so, fellow BHPian's who are keen on DIY's may try this out and post the information to every one's benefit

Since the manufacturer's have done what they can to either overcome or control the heat. I was thinking of a way to solve this heating issue

Coming to the Idea : Since our RTA Authoritied have banned using sun films on our 4 wheelers, How about wrapping this Sun film to our riding pants

(I'm NOT talking about sticking) using some means (like stick to another polythene sheet, which can then be wrapped around our legs and secured using a Rubber Band, Belt or some appropriate means) so that it can be used with any and all "riding gear".

Ofcourse, all the above details can be worked out, if the "sun film wrap" proves to be effective, in keeping the heat out

So, if any of you curious guys out there try this, please do post the results

Also, feel free to voice out your thoughts about the Idea

              Cheers

i think you are somewhat right about saving from engine heat but what about heat coming out of body itself , leave heat of engine we all will be sweating like hell in our pants literally . after all its polyethylene. and also fire hazard , which is worst kind of hazard if stuck to naked skin.
today i talked to showroom manager abt tentative delivery date and his reply was that he is trying hard to get it in first week of sept.
i hope he is correct if not then i am in que.

Hey thank you for the quick response

but looks like, you guys missed out on reading this portion of the sentence "to the riding pants". I mentioned "polyethylene", because we need a Non sticky surface, for this thing to be reusable

Coming to the melting issue, since we dont stick our legs to the heat emanating portion of the engine and the sunfilm being capable of "keeping heat out". we should be good

Again, unless some one try this out, all these will be just guesses

                    Thank you for the responses

                    cheers

According to all the reviews engine heating is not much of an issue the issue arises when the radiator turns on and blows all the hot air out from the sides, cooking our legs in turn. Can't we do a DIY and channel this air towards the bottom of the bike just like the ninja 300 deals with the heat?

                            Hi JayD

                            Dont worry, i'm not offended

Yes, if the Riding gear manufacturer's adds one such thing (if it is Non existent, then i'm sure that, the costs might go up) That would be the best thing to happen, but it might take time

But if we try this out, we will atleast have an immediate solution, until somebody comes up with a product that can take care of the heat (and in our true jugaad [email protected] less cost)

This discussion is going the "true brain storming way"..I like it

                            cheers
