Regarding engine oil... It's a big engine which generates more heat... Using FS during run in is recommended and makes sense... Just go by KTMs recommendation

I checked with the service engineer and the manual and the recommended grade of oil is 20w50 or better.
So I switched to Motul 3000 15w50 which falls within the recommended category when I had done about 250 odd kms. The gear shift is marginally smoother. I intend to use this mineral oil till I finish my second service. This was also recommended by a friend who runs a motorcycle accessories/gear store and visits the tracks often.
In the 12 days that I have owned the bike the things I noticed are:
        1. If the engines abruptly cuz the clutch was released too fast, the bike takes a while to start back up. I observed this during the first release, the day I received my bike and a couple of instances in the last 2 weeks. The service engineer attributed this to some pressure release mechanism in the design and said its normal. I can only restart the bike if I use the kill switch and "reboot" the entire system and then hold the start button for a good 8 - 10 seconds.
        2. The chain has gotten noisy in under 400 kms but that's most probably cuz of the roads I ride on. They are very dusty due to several construction sites enroute. Will have it lubricated tonight and see how it works.
        3. Knocking on low RPMs even on 1st gear. So I have to play with the clutch every time there is traffic to avoid this.

Are the Metzeler's available over the counter at KTM dealerships (spares div)?

Hmm when did all this happen. I am too busy with wedding activities at home so did not follow up much. What exactly happened here. Last I spoke to Nitin he informed that he was getting 4 bikes. This was when Begumpet KTM gave delivery to Riazmoin. After that they never bothered to followup. Now that I think about it, KTM folks never called me about anything. I was the one who was always following up with them

Whats happening in Bangalore ??? Any new KTM 390's delivered.
My 3 months or 90 days both are over . Anyone cancelled their bookings elsewhere ? please share ...

If this is the attitude even before the sale what will happen after this.

How about a mass cancellation drive across cities ? What say - It is getting into my nerves now...

Going by KTM/BAJAJ's attitude, I am also considering the after-sales part. When these guys are not even committed on delivering the bikes within 90 days, how can I trust that the bikes and their accessories are good enough. Should I wait for sometime and see if things improve and then buy it... thats the dilemma I am facing.

Do let me know the brand and grade of the mineral oil you changed to.
If Philips X-treme vision is not much of an improvement, wonder what will be. It sure needs an upgrade.
I changed the oil to Motul 3000 15W50 mineral oil...15w50 is the grade recommended in online pdf version of owner manual. But when I got the bike, printed version of manual has a sticker stating that recommended grade is 10w50...Anyways, i'm running it on 15 w 50 mineral oil for now,,,...will move to fully synthetic 10w50 after 2.5k Kms...

Today got a chance to ride my bike on some corners and turns.... Had an OMG moment while taking a corner and almost ended up with a lowside crash....

As the highway was almost deserted for most part, took courage and overtook a truck on a blind corner [which I should not have done in the first place] and opposite came a tata sumo.. To avoid crashing into it, increased my speed and applied front brake to reduce the speed as soon as I crossed the truck [I'm still in the middle of the corner]....My front wheel skid for almost a feet, my heart skipped many beats, released the front brake immediately and the front tyre stuck to it's line....PHeewwww....thanks to Metzeler, I really doubt front wheel recovery from the skid [infront of a truck] had it been any other tyre...I'm not sure if ABS played a part in ti too during the recovery....anyways thanks to Metzeller and ABS....:-)

I did go KTM BTM to cancel my booking, first they said I will have to pay 4K, then I told him about that 90 days was over (I was carrying the booking copy), then he requested me to a little patient..I also spoke to KTM Pune one Mr. Prakhar (sales manager). He explained that some events at KTM have caused delays till date, while the reason are not shared in public and requested to me patient for another 10-15 days..stating Oct-13 the deliveries speed will increase..and post mid Oct-13 they will really pick up steam for deliveries across the country. KTM BTM has received 15 bikes till date, i am 18th on the list, so next lot whenever it arrives, this week or next week ..i shld have my bike..
I get the feel that KTM is not sharing any info with the dealers and hence the dealers are pretty helpless... I have waited for a long time for the bike hence thought another 15 days wont harm me mucht..after all such bikes don't get launched everyday..

I know and that is the only reason keeping me away from cancelling the bike. If there was any other alternative...

Same reason why I am waiting. The bike is worth the wait. I am not completely disappointed with the Adyar KTM considering they have a good track record when it comes to D200 and N300 deliveries. The moment I get the D390, I am going to forget all this pain and ride like a man possessed
