its not baseless. This has been stated in a press conference by bajaj officials. Even the delhi ktm guys are saying that the bike deliveries will only start in mid-late september.

Ah, I'm not frustrated even s bit. Sorry if my post was too strong.
I reacted to your words that "Bajaj doesn't care about domestic market", which, IMO, are out of place.

Yup. Not even monsoon season, but winter and snow little later. Nobody buys bikes then. They have only these couple of months to sell their bikes, and then they'll hardly have ANY sales until April, May...
      That's why they're in hurry.

Guys, nomatter how much you try to deny the truth is that actual delieverys will start only in mid september. It doesnt mean that no bikes will be delievered till then, In the meantime Bajaj will deliever a few bikes to some lucky people but the Actual deliverys will start only in September. So hold onto ur cheques, gather loan information and collect riding gear till then. Trust me.... This will be worth the wait.

Exactly what I am doing, apart from reading all there is to read online w.r.t the 390. I once thought of going for test rides everyday to the Adyar Showroom but work caught up and all I can now do is wait and read
          Riding gear purchased.

Do showrooms accept online money transfers?

Apparently you haven't been following anything here. If you did, you would know the answer to that already. Stop reacting to one piece of news. We already knew even before the press conference that Bajaj had promised that the initial lots will be delivered within 90days which is September end, so please, this is not a surprise.

Secondly, please take some of your valuable time and go through the previous threads that have discussed this in detail. You can start with the below post I made several weeks ago, which will give you a clear cut reaons why what you were saying was nothing but assumptions.

Also, read this if you think we are getting second priority:

Yes, KTM as a foreign company has its priorities. Compare the price of D390 in Europe and here, combined with the fact that Europe is KTM's domestic market, and it's easy to understand what their priorities are.

I'm pretty sure Bajaj is doing its best to bring D390 as soon as possible to Indian market.
Just look at the price they managed to secure for India. We should be all very grateful to Bajaj for it.
@splus, after all the negetavity you were spreading about the D390 not being as exiting as the D200 in acceleration, i never thought I would be +1ing your post, but here it goes. +1

Yea man, totally.. sure.. Really? Monsoon? rain? bike release?

I think it has been discussed beyond argument previously that there are enough showrooms out there that kept making up bull and cock stories to keep their bookings intact when customers repeatedly kept asking for updates and there was none.
I really have respect for several showrooms including the one at Banjara Hills where the rep clearly told me "Honestly I have no new update, I myself have no idea when they will come. I am hoping they will come by next month end". This was absolutely true because there was really no new information at that time, infact we knew already that the possibility of it getting delivered by sept end was highly likely but yet, he was honest in saying he absolutely has no new information than speculating like many others.

@atul and Riot, a question that has been bothering me ever since this bike showed up, hope you guys can chip in with your views.

I had a N250r which i happen to sell it bout a year back, was planning an upgrade. does D390 categorize as an upgrade from a ninja, or should i just plan something bigger? My use would be occasional speed bursts in and around Pune, i wont be commuting with it as much and not much into touring either. Work has kept me too tied up to go get a test ride, posting a query seemed an easier option.

Thank you in advance and congratulations on your purchase

If I may keep my views. I have also ridden the 390 for around 50 odd kms.
Performance wise it is an upgrade over the ninja 250 but the difference is not huge. It would be like riding a duke 200 after riding a pulsar 220.
The initail acceleration is noticeably strong but the difference in top end is not as much.
A proper upgrade for you would be something bigger but since you want a ride for occasional speed bursts then duke is a good option. It is cheap to run and maintain as well, compared to the bigger bikes.

I have gone through each and every post. Apparantly your clarifications are nothing but mere assumptions. You might be in for a surprise if the Rs weakens furthur and you see deliveries being delayed to 120 days!!

Attributing all delays to a strike is also not the correct thing to do. You might not be knowing the real reason behind it!!

The truth is that even KTM officials in India do not know when the bike will be delivered in India, let alone dealers.

Only Mr. Bajaj knows that. And he is absolutely right to make as much money as he can on exporting not only KTMs but Bajaj bikes also to improve the bottom line of the company. And even if it is at the cost of loosing few sales in domestic market then so be it.

Waiting periods for some product that looks promising can be agonizing and this is nothing new. The scores of Bull fans wait for months together hoping to get their hands on their dream machine. There are waiting periods for months on a diesel version of a particular make model. However, your posts show clear signs of either frustration or hatred; frustration of not getting your bike early or hatred against a manufacturer. Just so that it becomes clear, lets start off by answering some questions..

                    • First things first..did you book a 390?
                    • If yes, would you cancel your booking just because the delivery is slightly longer than what was informed (IMHO, it was made clear at the time of booking that the waiting period would be around 90 days)?
                    • How do you know that the "source" of your knowledge is reliable and trustworthy?
                    • Why not write a mail to Bajaj Auto and ask them of the delivery timelines? Many a times, it is the dealers who give timelines that are highly impossible just to seal a deal.
                    • Finally, assuming that you have booked a 390 and are canceling the booking just because of the timeline, which other bike are you planning?

Answers to these questions will probably get some clarity amongst your forum friends.

guys please relax ... nothing to stress about. all of is will get the bike eventually. The commitment by bajaj is that they will deliver the bikes within 90 days. Also nowhere in the document is it mentioned that any liability is held by the company if not delivered by 90 days. Only the 4k amount for cancellation will no more be deducted.

Haha, I wouldn't call it negativity by a long stretch. Criticism yes.
The thing is that I've been waiting for D390 for a long time, since last year, and then was just disappointed KTM decided not to give all the ponnies in the bottom end and then even put tall gears on top of it. So it was like a cold shower after a long wait for my new favourite toy... Maybe it's a good safety measure for novice riders (which, objectively, is a good measure for most riders!), or whatever, but for me it meant losing on fun factor that Duke 200 offers aplenty (especially with remapped ECU). D390's fun starts at higher speeds, which often I am not able to ride at due to bad roads. It's just a practical reason...

If the bottom end gets beefed up with some ECU remap, that gearing made shorter and they offer the tank in orange with black alloys, then I might join the party!
Both Dukes are pretty much a same bike but with different power and power delivery, and, IMO, they are the best bikes at our market. Even if they were double the price.

Everyone has a diff opinion bro. Some of the N250 owners who rode D390 kind of liked it more but some didnt. As one of our bros pointed out. Its like upgrding from Pulsar 220 to a Duke 200.
Performance wise D390 is definitely an upgrade over N250r but it kind of didnt touch my heart the way parallel twin N250r used to touch. D390 is faster but Ninja feels faster and the parallel twin roar at higher revs feels awesome . The reason i picked up D390 was because its a great daily commuter with enough power to keep me happy at all times and will be cheaper to maintain as compared to N250.

If Budget is not a problem then you should look out for a SBK as you will not be using it for daily commutes. But if you are restricted by budget like me then there is nothing under the 4.5L price range that will hold a candle to D390 in performance terms.

If you are alright with a little less acceleration then u can take a look at N300 too. Same parallel twin fun of N250R with better performance, looks, slipper clutch and its a attention magnet.

                              i swear whenevr i am here i keep switching between D200 \ D390 \ N300 ownership threads.
and the riders describe their machines and make their point so brilliantly that i end up reading in a vivious circle .

i have been saving for a speedy bike for quite some time now but now made a decision to spend a few bucks on protective gear first so guess i got couple of more months time of reading and waiting and savings.

hmmm......... so 90 days waiting means if i book it in september then i get it at new years ??
i know it wld be just wild guessing but how long do u think before the D390 prices are hiked ?
i hate waiting for so long and not booking bcz so many new bikes are about to launch and they would make it all the more difficult for me to commit. but at the same time i feel as if i want to wait and see how it goes ??

does any of you feel the same way ??

I was in the N300 camp for a while as I was unsure if the 390 would even launch in India but I immediately changed my mind and booked it without hesitation. The D390 is simply amazing at that price. Have you done test rides? That will help you decide. Please don't invest in cheap riding gear
