I have played around with the silencer a lot. My friend bought a TVS fiero a few months after mine and at that time i wanted to know whether these bikes had catalytic converters .The thing is the foreman at the TVS ASS was an ass and he told me that there indeed was a catalytic converter in the classic fiero silencer ,so i took apart both the bike's silencers to find the silencers had no catalytic converters!!!!

Then i took off the baffle of the silencer for some time and then got ambitious and even put a Bullet's ROCKET SILENCER ,which i still have with me

Back then ,that is in 2002 the mechs and i had no idea of up-jetting and you can imagine how lean the bike was running as i had taken off the baffle of the BULLET ROCKET SILENCER too You guys can imagine how loud it was i have no idea what my neighbors opinion was of my bike was back then

Then as to the reason why i got back to the original silencer of my bike was, on two occasions the bike(being a female) got jealous and burnt the high heels of the girls who were with me on the tours First time the girl had sat with her high heel resting on the angled silencer(stupid mech's idea to angle it) and when she got off for the first time on that ride out of town .It had been like 40 kms like that and she started limping !!! and when she looked down to realize that a good 2 inches of her heel was sticking to the silencer !!! and to make matters worse i started laughing at what the bike had done!! so you can imagine how much deep s#!t i was in for our over 2 day stay at the hillstation of madikeri !!!!

Then on the second occasion she(my bike) got jealous once again when i had taken another girl(obviously ) for a day's trip outside town and after the hill climb of the Chamundi hills when she got off the bike to visit the Mother Goddess ,she also ended up almost falling on her face !!! as a good part of her heel was sticking to the silencer!!!! and me being me i ended up laughing uncontrollably and you can imagine the rest Needless to say the Mother Goddess(girl accompanying me ) was mad at me. and i had no choice but to remove the ROCKET SILENCER!!

      Gixxer Bro... very funny!!!

I guess too much playing around with the stock setup is not good. I just love the sound of a classic fiero... the sweet sound gives you the feel of power and reliability. Well, SILENCER... as the name implies is supposed to silence the noise, the roar some of us love.

      • Gixxer bro, I did make the AF leaner ... by half a revolution. The bike, as I feel has become more responsive. However, the white smoke was still visible this mornng... I guess I should make the AF more leaner.

I think your engine valve stem seals are worn and leaking oil into chamber.

Thanks bro Spirited girls and spirited bikes make a man's life pleasurable!
Yes the rocket silencer of the bullet on a fiero made her scream and moan in pleasure with no inhibitions what so ever.I am tempted to try it out once again

Good thing bro, ride it like that and rev it up on that steep incline .Then take a pic of the plug and put it here, that should clear up things.

Good thing that the lower handle made it's affect on handling known.Lower handle is a must not just for sport bikes ,even for road bikes. It will save your skin/leather and you will be doing your lower back a favor too.

How was the performance? and what did the engine feel like?

It's high time that you put a pic of the plug here buddy.

bro... please suggest me a solution to this problem. are the valve stem seals available separately? and what should the cost be? That means the engine will have to be opened up again right?

To let you know, the smoke disappears after a couple of minutes of revving. Only reappears in the mornings at cold start.

Speaking of Spirited bikes, yes they are a pleasure to ride bro... and so are spirited girls. . A Rocket SILENCER in these spirited wild things (bikes and girls) are certainly not going to silence them... they are going to roar to the climax and yes without inhibitions.

Will do the inclination test and show you the pic.

Putting a bullet's rocket silencer on a fiero is like ,taking a shy, demure yet spirited girl/woman out of town and riding them on some isolated twisty! Then both the fiero and the girl/woman will show their true nature!!

                      • Nano bro... that must have been a great trip and a great experience. Scary too ... got to be more careful... part of the solution lies in anticipating problems which comes more naturally with experience. I have done a 550 km one day trip, the longest so far and the Fiero is good for these trips. Came back after a couple of days taking a detour which was longer ... approx 600 km.

Good trip and a good writeup... so the 180 feels powerful and a pleasure to ride?
                        Cheers!

Ya the good old fiero will be fine... but that shy thing may turn nasty after a stuck heel on the rocket silencer.

Yeah you are very right i almost thought that the whole purpose of going for a overnight stay will be lost after that incident Luckily it was very cold and was raining most part of the 2 day stay . That and the fact that there were hardly anyone around at the water falls and the Goddesses(Kauveri/Ganga) shrine ensured that i did some riding .
Cold weather is good for both bikes and ........ i guess.

The Honda I had was a 90 Degree "V" three cylinder 250cc,with gas shocks front and rear. The power delivery is not comparable to these bikes. It was seamless and at the 6th gear at 1500 RPM will do 60 Kph.Wheelies can be done on 2nd and 3rd gears if the RPM is kept above 6K.It is a LC TWO STROKE bike generating 40 BHP with 140 KG weight .The rear was 18" and front 16" wheel to stop it from jumping with quick throttle......still the bike was a handful if you suddenly open the throttle.Doing 120 to 140 on highways was a casual drive. You can easily scrape the foot pegs on each turn due to its superb handling
The down side was the 18" rear and 16" front made it a very front heavy bike and the driver will have a steep front inclination putting strain on the back and wrist......and the mileage was ....15 Kms per liter.
But it was an out and out scorcher on the road, and fun to ride.

                              • my fiero (2000)
                                have some problems:

1.Every morning when i take out the bike from the garage the petrol leakes from the outlet given to drain out the dirt from the carb i even tried to put the fuel off when the bike is not it use.

2.My bike has lost its pick up it moves forward 4-5sec after i have left the clutch
is it the clutchplate or carb ?

3.Black smoke starts coming out if i rip the bike.

                                90k on the odo

one last question what is the 180 bore kit ? how much does it cost ? where can i get it ?
