    Hi Sam,

As per the mechanics I visited today for my second service, they say that a gasket increases the distance in between the gear pin and the shaft which leads to higher clutch plate usage & wear and tear, they obviously now use a sealant to ensure there are no leaks. This was done today during my second service and lets hope has fixed my oil leak issues.

A few pictures of the sealant used, I was lucky to get one of these when I went in today as normally they don't have to many of them in stock.

Today during my visit to the RE service center in Bangalore, there was one of the representatives from a company called Seelin stating that they have some new liquid in the market to avoid punctures for both tube and tubeless tyres, the cost of this was 1400/- for both the wheels where they pour close to 40 ml of this in each tyre and it uses 2/3 ml during each puncture and last up to 20 punctures.

post all the blog reviews that I have read, this did not seem like a good idea to try on right away unless Baloo gets alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, however just posting the brochure that was given, do let me know if some one has tried this and has a review on this product.

This option was available with me even then, however I am unsure of the cost of shipping and they were not able to give me the cost that day, on the next trip again I failed to get the crash guard even though they had it in stock, while they have told me to go to Sandesh Auto Motors in J.C Road Bangalore who is their dealer, I am yet to make this trip and close on this, hopeful that this would be done soon.

Trip to Gaganachukki, Barachukki & Shivansamundram:

    Total Distance Covered: 296 KM
    Date: 14th June 2014
    Time taken:
8:00 AM to 12:30 PM (Distance covered 140 km) - with a breakfast break at Vasu Hotel (This place is famous for its Dosas & lives up to its reputation)
5:30 PM to 9:00 PM (Distance covered 150 km) - with a few breaks

Within a week of Baloo returning from a long trek along the East Coast & the wide express way lanes, we were given an opportunity to ride along with a few friends from work, the word of our Talkad trip seemed to have reached a few ears and there were quite a few enthusiastic people willing to try the way of the road, the trip was well within the limits of 80 km/hour due to the second service (3000 km) restrictions and Baloo was the slowest turtle in the race along with most of his forefathers ranging from the bullets built in 2000 with the left hand break / right hand gear systems to the recent 2010 models of thunder birds.

While we itched to open the engine to see the extent the bike would be able to power up to and the maximum speed it would achieve, this would have to wait until the 3000 km mark which is just about complete while I blog this post.

The trip started with a few delays in collecting some friends from their homes where we were invited in for a hot cup of coffee before the start of this journey, the destination of Vasus was pre-selected for breakfast as there were quite a few reviews of this place online on reaching there it was a hard to spot this place as google maps kept repeating we had reached our destination but we couldnt spot a big / crowded restaurant as we expected, the only closest thing in resemblance to this was a shady walk way into some building with Vasu Hotel painted in Kannada on the sides of this entrance. For a moment all the riders along with us glared at us asking if this was the place I kept raving about the reviews, only when we did get of the bikes and enter this place did we realize the place opened into a hall after 10 steps and the hall was not only packed, there was no space to even stand and breathe. The hall was not any less as it accommodated at least 100 people at any time with tables to sit and eat as well as stand and eat and yet this was full, more like the entire population of that city decided to have breakfast at the same time that we reached.
The main highlight of this place is the Dosa available and mind you we ordered and received our Dosa within 2 minutes of giving our order and the place lived up to every expectation that you would have from a place to quench your hunger after riding a few miles. (**This should be a constant stop every time on this road to enjoy these amazing dosas)

Post a heavy breakfast and a few coffees we were out to our destination Gaganchukki which host the view of the falls, while this isnt the best season to take this trip due to the water levels being low its still a wonderful ride filled with some wild life which we did see, three snakes crossing our paths while we rode forward towards Barachukki, while we did stop prior to reaching this point at another water front to step in and enjoy the cold flowing waters it was overall a wonderful trip.

The ride back was started at 5 pm after filling our stomachs with some hot vadas at a small tea shop at the junction to head towards Barachukki, the ride got a little uncomfortable as the sun set behind our back due to the flies that constantly found ways to enter our helmets or find spots around ears to buzz inside our helmets. The ride was just as pleasurable with few stops along the way to get a drink or two and give our bikes and backsides the required rest before starting all over again on the road.
    ** Note to self

So after replacing my battery (under warranty), my bird ran like a charm for a couple of days and then the 'Low voltage' indicator started blinking again. I was sereiously frustrated this time. How can a new battery go kaput again! So i gave the bike to the ASC to find out and fix the problem asap! The buggers just said that there might be a problem with the connection in the terminals and that they will fix it.

Couple of days later, the same problem shows up. This time got super annoyed and blasted them on the phone! The ASC guy came to my house picked up the bike and took it to the workshop to do some 'analysis' on it. It turns out that the rectifier has gone out and needs to be replaced. Whats more is that the part is not covered under warranty and i will have to shell out 1.5k for it to be replaced!

This has been the first problem with my bike since purchase, but im a lil bumed as its not even been 1 year and the electrical parts have started failing... dint except this.

Default Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500

So i finally wrote to RE on my issue :

    Hi,

I, P Surya Teja, am writing to you in utter dis-pair and as a last resort of hope that i could get any kind of help.

After a lot of deliberation, I had purchased the RE Thunderbird 500 (AP 23 AK 5384) from GO Green Motors, Gachilbowli, Hyderabad on 03/09/2013. Till date i had no complaints from the machine and i enjoyed every bit of the journey with my steed.

Recently, about 3 weeks ago, my TBTS 500 started to show the 'Low Battery Indicator' on the console. I was surprised as it has not even been an year since purchase and i have kept my bike in the top most condition at all times with all the services done on time, after a day, the console too din't light up. When i showed this problem to the Go Green Motors ASC (hyderabad, dealer code: 4597), they said that the battery has completely drained out and needs to be replaced.

I had hence gotten the battery replaced under warranty hoping that the problem can be settled once it for all (Please refer attached documents). The bike ran fine for ONE day, and the same problem stared to repeat.

I once again showed the bike to the Go Green Motors ASC (Ramchandrapuram, BHEL branch) and told them to fix the issue on priority as it has taken up a lot of my time. I had also instructed them to do my 4th service in the meanwhile. The technician at the ASC gave me a explanation as below :

"Sir sometimes the battery terminals are loose and hence the problem is re-occuring, i shall fix the terminals, recharge the battrey and give it back"

I insisted that it is not a problem with the battery as its a brand new one (Just a day old), even then they did not listen to me and changed the battery acid anyway and gave me the bike after the servicing (Please refer to the attached document). After this, the bike ran fine for another day and again the issue repeated. This time, the bike just would not start and i was stranded on the road.

I have now given the bike to GO Green Motors ASC (Ramchnadrapuram, BHEL branch, 04069994343) 4 days ago. Till now there has been no resolution on my bike and it is currently sitting in the ASC. When i first called them 3 days ago (Thursday) they told me that the rectifier was damaged and needs to be replaced and my bike will be delivered in a day. Till date, i have not got my bike back, yesterday when i called them back (person called Sreedhar) he now says that there is nothing wrong with the rectifier but the alternator needs to be replaced as its not working. He also mentioned that i will have to pay for whatever charges are applicable and it will not be covered under warranty. How can this be possible when i have not yet completed 1 year?

I do not understand this "Trial and error" method of finding out the problem with my bike. This is utterly unprofessional behavior which is I am sorry to say, subjects your valuable customers to Mental agony and also reflects poorly on the RE brand image.

I hope you understand my concern and kindly take appropriate steps to resolve my issue so that i can get my steed back. This is a humble request. Please find all the documents attached
