340km done Bike is very smooth to ride till 70kmph after that you can feel the engine roaring. Overall handling is great but little down on power. Instrument console is great but its not accurate in terms of fuel guage. I switched it on first timw it showed reserve warning and again i turn it on after off and it shows two bars of fuel. I wonder whats the issue.

340kms.. Good going do service the bike between 450-600kms. It would be good for the engine.
The bike is in run-in period, so it would feel a bit heavy above 70-75km/h. It was like this with my bike also (older fz) when new. As for the fuel gauge, its just it give you an idea about the fuel. It isn't accurate. To have a little bit correct reading, keep the bike straight for a min and then the correct (nearly) reading would show.
Enjoy the smooth and trouble free engine, don't think about power too much.

I had some doubts and questions regarding my bike :

    1. I went to yamaha service center to get my rear brake tight. I saw there that the service guys wash every bike and lubricate the chain with motul spray but dont use any chain cleaner before that. Is it alright? If not what should i be doing in this case?

    2. I had my bike teflon coated in 400rs as it wasnt free with this bike. But still i can see alot of minor scratches on the fuel tank of the bike. Can i do something about it? I was wondering what does teflon coating do exactly? Is is worth for 400rs? and How often should i get it done?

    3. I am having some hard time cleaning my bike. It doesnt give a good shine and matte parts looks very whitish. How should i clean my bike? What i want to know is the brand and version of polish that i should be using for body and matte parts, and any other accessories i should invest in for keeping my bike as new as possible.

Any other thing you would like to suggest regarding taking care of bike, you are most welcome and i must say, I am just in love with this bike for its mean looks and smooth engine. I am dying to get my first service, i guess then the beast would rage better .

    Regards

    1. You should have asked them not to wash the bike and lubricate the chain. They wouldn't have done that.
Did you used the service book coupon for this ?
    2. I too had opted for this teflon coat for 550rs. But they use some unknown polish and pass that for toflon coat (simply cheat us)
    3. Wash the bike every Sunday or every alternate Sunday. Use a good car shampoo and after that apply a good quality polish. I use 3M wax polish and i find it pretty good. Keeps the shine for long. For matte parts, don't have much idea.
Also don't clean the bike with dry cloth. It would cause micro scratches and would dull the paint. Instead clean with damp cloth and very lightly.
    4. Get a good quality bike cover and use that at night.

Most important things, don't think too much. The paint would loose its shine this easily. Follow the stated points and the bike would stay good.

No No....i have not used my service coupon. What i meant to say was i saw a bike being serviced..it got a wash and chain lubricant but no chain cleaning. But i read in the forums to do chain cleaning before lubricating the chain. So thought it to be a wrong practice. And thanks for the advices would definitely follow them

Make it a point to get the chain cleaned thoroughly during each servicing.

SVC guys don't even bother to clean the chain and apply chain lube. They simply apply the chain lube and their work is over. If you can do the same by yourself, that will be helpful in the long term.

Bang on! that's exactly what SVC guys do - wash & lubricate (no cleaning, as done manually by riders)
Shampoo & polish is a good combination for keeping the bike shiny. BTW matte finish doesn't shine much, their USP lies in their dullness.
