Yes. 120/80-17 is a good choice.

No. It won't even touch even the chain cover nor the mud flaps. 120/80-17 is a possible upsizing. I have added the MRF MASSETER MSX 120/80-17.Name: IMG-20180324-WA0040.jpg

    Hey guys,

My Uni 160 completed 2000 km today. I don't intend to do the free services as I think the local Honda SVC will **** up my new bike. I would rather get my bike serviced by my trusted local mechanic.

Nonetheless, before I give it for first service, I changed the oil today (for the first time). Now, I read that I should used 10w40 oil for the summer. But couldn't find it anywhere. The closest I could find was Motul 5100 4T Hybrid 15W-50. So I went ahead with it. I had read here that Motul 5100 was the preferred oil, but I had also read that initially I shouldn't use semi-synthetic oil, but I had no other decent option. I also couldn't find Shell AX5.

Did I do the right thing? Any future advice? Anything I should look out for?

15w50 is quite heavy for this engine. It will feel sluggish, though it will be smooth. Also there will be a drop in fuel efficiency figures.

In very hot climates (35°C+), 10w40 is better. The 10w30 oil heats up the engine more and harshness also increases after a 10-15km ride. 10w40 is available in shell ax7, veedol super Swift and a few fully synthetic oils which I feel are overkill. Semi synthetic/mineral oils are enough for daily usage.

Good find. I had tried Zapper C 120/80 which touched the area under the seat. Maybe the curved profile helps.

EDIT - Completely forgot about multi-quote.

Yes, I could feel the engine harshness. It makes me sad I'll see a drop in fuel efficiency What should I do now? I just dumped 500 bucks in it.

What were my other options? I could only find 10w40 in Motul V300, which is fully synthetic and AFAIK fully synthetic is not recommended for a new bike (2000 km).

Also, I saw Motul 10w30 but only in 800 mL, which the shopkeeper said won't be enough for my Uni 160.

Use it, not a problem. You'll have to change it later anyway. You could try 5100 10w30 next time.

Lol, okay. After 3k KM I think I'll change?

By the way, can you suggest me what to get done in first service? The basic things I presume.

An oil change, cleaning the centrifugal oil filter and the oil strainer, adjusting the chain, cleaning and lubing the chain.

I think 2000kms is very late for a first service though.

I agree it's too late. What else then?
