Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Rakowli is right, front fork repair costs about 2K but I am not sure about cost for single or both tubes. Just try to stay there while the repair work is being done, if it’s not done by a third party. While taking delivery check your handle bar by turning full left and full right, see if there is any play and check if the wheel balancing is done properly as well. Take a proper test ride and observe if your handle bar is behaving weirdly or if there any sounds while on bumps. The SVC May try to pass off just be careful. This repair is kind of a bigger work may need to check very carefully and your ride dynamics will be affected if you don’t do it properly.Originally posted by Manash Roy View PostYes, will mark on the shocks, in a place they can't see. When I get the bike will check for the mark.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Thank you very much. That's what they quoted me for each fork. Replacing both the forks is costing about 4k. Will tell the SVC to inform me when they are about to repair, so that I could visit them and check the work. Also thanks for the heads up about the handling of the bike. Rode the bike about 7k kms till now. So I'm pretty sure I can tell if something is off about the handling. Also can you tell me a spot where the mark will be harder to be visible?Originally posted by AbiRam View PostRakowli is right, front fork repair costs about 2K but I am not sure about cost for single or both tubes. Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Hi xBHPians, i am having slight braking issues with my RTR 200 (matte black),
a few days back i had a small accident and scraped lower part of my bike's silencer, as well as slightly broke the headlight casing and on top of that the rider's foot-peg broke.
The reason for that was an auto came in front of me without any notification of U-Turn and i tried braking with control, but unfortunately the tires skid and the brakes were ineffective and i rammed a bit by side into the auto, a few scrapes to me as well, but nothing major to bike as the foot-peg and the right side mirror and handle bar kept the bike body and maybe me as well from brushing against the road.
The main concerning thing, i was just at a speed of 40 km/hr, yet the brakes didn't work properly and my tires skid, bike is having tvs remora tyres and is only 8 months old and odo reading is roughly about 4000km.
This skidding thing happened again, but very minute today as well, so i am a bit worried what will happen to me and bike if speed in more than 60 km/hr.
Any suggestions would be welcome on how to avoid such situations
Also, any suggestions on how to manage that scraped part of silencer (paint/filing/etc) and cost of replacing the headlight casing would be welcomeLast edited by srp321; 02-21-2018, 09:23 PM.

No use using marker as they can easily remove it with Diesel. The day when you are going for replacement do some scratch on the upper side for fork tube as they will not be able to remove that and anyhow you are changing them so they are of no use for you....Originally posted by Manash Roy View PostThank you very much. Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Hey guys. Just did a trip from Chennai to Pondicherry. Full trip was around 330 kms. 2 persons on the bike. Most of the time speed was around 70kmph. Sometimes hard accelerations till 100kmph. Got mileage of around 35 only. Usually in city bumper to bumper traffic also i get same mileage.
Now lets come to the observations I made about bike. I found the seat to be very uncomfortable although I took many stops during the trip. It feels like I don't have buttocks now. Also I always find the suspension to be very stiff. How to change that? Some loose washer like noise when accelerating through 5-6k rpm. Don't know the cause for that too? I got my 2nd service at 1500km one month back. Now its around 2500km and the console shows a spanner icon indicating a service due. How to fix that?
You help is much appreciated. Thanks

To remove service reminder icon on instrument console press M key on console until you get Highspeed mode now press both M and S keys at same time until the spanner icon disappear from the console (takes around 1 min, keep pressed👆)Originally posted by Ysahil92 View PostHey guys. Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
I personally had the same problem not once but twice. Both the times rear tyre fishtailed or locked and I went down scraping me and the bike on the road. Foot peg broke and the silencer has many scratches and the head light cowl has a cut. Eventually I had to change my handle bar and repairing a bent front fork.Originally posted by srp321 View PostHi xBHPians, i am having slight braking issues with my RTR 200 (matte black),

The only suggestion I got for the silencer was to spray paint it. It’s matte black but I have left it that way with scratches. To change the headlight cowl I must replace it but fortunately my cut is hidden not much of a give away though so left that as it is for the time being. Replacement of a silencer is a costly issue. So I only concentrated on the mechanical repairs and left the aesthetic repairs for the moment. My suggestion for you is first see through your bike is as good as New on the mechanical front and later concentrate on the aesthetic part of it.

I wasn't actually focusing on the aesthetics part as in my case, it's very nominal (scratch on silencer, headlight casing minor crak just under number plate tag), and mechanically i got it checked with a nearby mechanic, he said the the handle alignment has slightly changed but nothing major to worry, and as my 4th service is coming up in few days, i am thinking to get the alignment thing done from service center itself.
Now, about the concerning part again, how can i avoid such accidental Tyre lock and skids (apart from riding carefully as i ride carefully, but u never know when an auto will take a u-turn without indication
),
I prefer to use the rear brakes 1st and then use the front brakes mostly, but if skidding still happens then what can help? new tyres? new brakes? (ABS might, but that's a distant dream given that TVS isn't going to do much about retrofitting)Last edited by srp321; 02-22-2018, 08:30 PM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Unfortunately the roads are filled with such ppl. I can only say about progressive braking and practice using both the brakes simultaneously and also getting down your gears quickly. May be a grippy Tyres like Pirelli SD and angel GT can be helpful or even the metzellers May help as well. I am also on the same lines like you buddy, only thing now is that I am beginning to get the controls and understand the ride.Originally posted by srp321 View PostI wasn't actually focusing on the aesthetics part as in my case, it's very nominal, and mechanically i got it checked with a nearby mechanic, he said the the handle alignment has slightly changed but nothing major to worry, and as my 4th service is coming up in few days, i am thinking to get it done from them itself.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
yup bro, i just go slow and more attentively now on that specific road as the skidding part happened on that same road just few meters apart, i feel that the tarmac is very smooth there (might be an assumption).Originally posted by AbiRam View PostUnfortunately the roads are filled with such ppl. Need to practice the simultaneous braking part on an empty roads or fields with aggressive speeding and then braking, then i suppose i might have a better idea on how to apply brakes.
Till then, will just ride easily and safely.

Help: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Its time for 3rd service (5000-6000Kms or 6 months) of my bike.
I haven't ridden much its been only travelled 3000Kms from 1st oil change so is it mandatory to change the oil in service or I can wait for time being?
I'm not a pro but the oil which I'm using now is not much deteriorated as per my opinion its colour is yellow with faint tint of brown.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.Rule the road, but first wear the CROWN.
