just came back from ASC .
My Sf had been making a screeching sound since Thursday, and got the brake pads checked for damage or dust. The sound stopped for a few hours but it again started, i thought id go to the Asc later as i had some work to be done.
So yesterday while riding i noticed that the front brake made loud squeaky sound when the bike was slow. later at night the front brake failed almost completely, with no feedback from the wheel. Got me worried a bit, so i drove back home at max 30kmph speeds.

Today i left early for the ASC in andheri, got there somehow sine no front braking, nd got the issue checked. turns out the front disc is out of shape, someone has bumped it , dont know how.The bike just completed 1st service and is in its 3rd week.

Got a new one for Rs.1700 incl taxes. and 200 service charge. That solved the braking and squeaks from the wheel, and Abs also working as new.
    finally Happy for the fix.

My advice guys, if its squeaky , pls check if disk plate is nice and straight and not bent.

Also if anyone would guide me on how to resolve this minor bend on the disk, would be grateful
[like straighten it under a pressure press machine]

Brake rotors are a critical safety component. You cannot fix motorcycle brake rotor warps. Replacement is the only option.

    Hello guys,

    Back with another query.

Done with the first servicing. Now i can see that water is coming out of a small exhaust hole near the exhaust pipe bend. Is this normal or something is wrong??

I turned on the ignition and kept the bike running for a while. After a minute or two i saw that water droplets coming out and on turning the throttle the drops were increasing. Touched the fluid and it felt like water with smell of exhaust.

    Any ideas on this??

    Thanks!!

Default My Gixxer SF drive shaft needs to be changed

    Hi,

I bought a used Gixxer sf feb 2016 model 9500 kms done 2-3 days back - today while i was riding to office it broke down. after getting it checked by local mechanic I got to know that I would have to get the drive shaft replaced. I have never faced such problems with other bikes I rode even though they have done 60K+

Is it normal with Gixxer or should I get it returned to the dealer I bought it from.......

"Broke down" is very vague information for us. Explain what exactly happened before the engine shut off.

Also get teh bike checked at an SVC to diagnose a critical problem, not at your local mechanic.

If you are asking whether a bike breaking down is normal, then No its not normal for any bike to simple breakdown without a proper reason.

P.S: If the "drive shaft" really did get damaged then it means the previous owner abused the bike. Return it (if you can) if that turns out to be the case.

The image below is what your "local mechanic" is claiming needs to be replaced:

Good morning friends. I own a gixxer sf. The stock horn is not good. Is there anyone who tried using Apache or pulsar's horn..? I'm planning to change my horn. Is it good to do so?
