    Hi All,

Little did i know within a week of saying all is good with the bike, I will be writing this post on the issue i am suddenly facing from yesterday evening.

So here goes what all happened till now. I am not able to still pin point the issue, so stuck on what should i do next.

Yesterday evening the bike refused to crank and start. I turn the key, the console lights up, turn off the kill switch , i can hear the fuel pump turning now.
Then when I press the ignition button to start the bike, I just hear a click sound and nothing. The bike doesn't crank at all.

Tried couple of times. No errors on the console. Battery is showing 12.4 volts and all good. DRLs are on. Finally I thought its getting late. So i jump started the bike with help of my friend by pushing it down a slope and putting it in 1st gear. The bike turned on and all was good.

I came home, switched it off and tried turning it ON again. Same problem, fuel pump and console all fine, but only a click (kind of a relay switch sound) when i press the ignition button.

Left it the night and thought will take it to Service center in the morning.

In the morning today , i tried to turn it on again, but again same issue. Jump started it and came to office and my bike documents were in my office drawer.
As soon as i reached office, in the parking i tried once again to start the bike after turning it off and it came on.

So now I m in confusion like why didn't it turn on yesterday night after i reached home and tried to turn it on.
    Is it some loose contact.

Should i take it to service center, but the problem is I am not able to reproduce the issue now.
Any pointers would really help, as I dont want to get stuck in the same situation in the middle of the road at an odd time.
Has anyone faced this kind of issue. Is the battery gone. My bike is approximately one year old and done 8500 kms.

May be rain water has seeped into the electronics. I am not able pin point what could have gone wrong and why its working fine now.

    Thank you.

Sounds like a loose starter relay connection or a faulty relay itself. Get it checked with your SVC, if it's a loose relay, the nuts can tightened and you're good to go. If the nuts are tight enough and still you have intermittent working, it's good to check the relay for proper working and replace it if necessary. The click sound you hear is from the relay, and that's what turns the starter motor. Keep your observations posted.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

You were spot on B7ACKTHORN. It was a loose starter relay connection, thanks to the famous potholes of Bangalore
The service center guys tightened the nuts which seems to have fixed the issue.

Will keep an eye if the issue comes up again.
    Thanks a ton

    Cheers

Yup, don't mention it. Usually the starter relay nuts is torqued by the SVC at times, in case of new bike, when they install the battery and the likes. If they were lax and haven't torqued it well, it will over time slowly undo, not the fault of the bike though.

    Cheers!

    Hi All,
Is there any solution for the front number plate buzzing ?
I got the new government number plate with hologram etc from RTO its garbage metal number plate.
The problem is that over the time screws holding it become loose and the number plate buzzes alot. I tried couple of things like adding small rubber in between number plate and number plate holder it was fine for couple of weeks now its back.
Wondering if you guys have any permanent solution.
    Regards,
    Mohan

If your number plate screws/bolts are undoing. Use Loctite and Anabond thread locker. Also make sure you use double sided tape between the bracket holder and the number plate, use little Anabond thread locker and torque it well and let it set, your bolts/screws won't undo.

    Cheers!

If they allow you to ride from the godown to the showroom, then go ahead and get it yourself. But, most of the time, they bring the bike themselves from another showroom or also known as godown, so it can be tricky. Insist with the showroom guys that you would ride it from the godown with a showroom boy sitting behind for safety, just work your luck.

    Hi All,

I have done now 9000 kms on my duke now and yesterday when I took the bike for wash, I noticed that the rear disk brake pads are invisible. Like they have fallen off somewhere. Or that they have completely worn off and the brakes are now damaging my rear disk.

Is 9000 kms normal distance for Duke 390's brake pads to wear off, or have they fallen off.?

Because couple of weeks back I had to get the rear wheel off to fix a mushroom puncture and the puncture guy had some difficulty in fitting it back.

Indeed if the pads are worn off and have to be replaced, should i go ahead with the company ones or any other brand. Please suggest. As I have always felt that the rear brakes are nowhere near the front brakes on my bike.

    Regards,
    Sujith

unlikely they have fallen off, you would have noticed it if you used the brakes!
share a picture of the pads/calipers so we can see what is happening.
brake pad wear totally depends on use, 9k km is a bit on the lower side if you are a sane rider and use proper braking technique.
only a picture will let us know what is happening. the factory recommended spec is minimum 1mm pad material anything lesser and you are due for a replacement.
