Thanks a ton. I've known this for long but still was hoping it might sound similar to an inline 4, maybe cos all the videos that i'd seen of a ninjette with a two bros can were american and that they have a carb version so thought our version might sound a lot better. Disappointed in a way to be honest cos it means am still not going to have a sweet sounding engine with me for atleast 5 years.

Was it just me or do you also feel that it now sounds a little RXish( Please dnt kill me , no offence meant)

                    • Alright, so from today I can officially join the ownership thread, along with gorbi, startrek and gourav. Can't believe that it is finally with me - I might wake tomorrow morning and then call the probiking showroom to ask them when will I get my Ninja!

I rode the bike home around noon in heavy traffic today for a distance of around 10 kilometers. One thing which took me by surprise was how friendly this bike was - I have been riding a RE for the last few years, with its gears on the right side and a 1 up 4 down pattern, so I was a bit apprehensive about riding the Ninja in chock-a-block traffic with left side gear change and 1 down 5 up gear pattern (opposite of the RE).

But as soon as I slot the first gear into place, my anxiety evaporated - the smooth gear box and engine was soothing in a sense, and within 15 seconds of riding it, I was at ease with the machine. The power delivery is gradual and comes slowly instead of quick bursts, and the brakes are very responsive, stopping with just a slight pressure on the levers.

It took some time for me to get used to the mirrors though - the outer edge has a taper so getting accustomed to that angle will take a couple of days, I guess.

The Green Ninja is an attention magnet - there were a lot of traffic lights, so there were a lot of stares. I had purposely switched my helmet visor to a tinted one for today's ride, so that avoided any 'kitna mileage hai' type questions. The only time someone spoke to me at a traffic light was when a guy on a bigger Ninja (I think 10R, not sure) pulled up and asked me questions on specs etc...

After 35 minutes of riding, I finally managed to slot my bike in my apartment parking, and a few people who were visiting relatives came over and asked a few questions about the bike.

After a quick snack, I took my set of allen keys, screwdriver and decided to swap the black tail covers with the green ones since that was one thing I wanted to change badly, even over the saree guard and front number plate. So here's are some pictures from my DIY session (I have posted these in the other Ninja thread too) in case anyone wants to do the same. It is better to do it yourself - you get to know a bit about the bike, and it is free!!!

This is the stock Ninja with the black tail:Picture from the internet since I did not have good lighting in the afternoon

I removed the side covers, the rear and main seat and the black tail covers. One needs a S shaped screwdriver to take out the side covers, and then it is allen key all the way (no 4 and 5 sizes). Here's the bike minus all the stuff:

All the 250R bits kept on my RE!

This is one of the most painful process - removing the siamese twin rubber washers from the black tail covers and insert them into the green one. My fingers are still sore from pushing! Here's a picture of a washer - there are 6 of them!!!

One green cover fixed - actually the left one goes on first, followed by the right one as the right one sits on the left one at the pillion seat lock point:

Ta da! Green tail transformation complete!

The final look of the bike - excuse the lousy indoor picture, will post some nice ones in a day or two when the weather clears! Total time taken for swapping the tail covers - 90 minutes. Need S shaped screwdriver and a set of allen keys. There are 10 allen screws involved and at least 5 are in different thread lengths, so be careful not mix them up if you decide to do this procedure on your own, like I did.
I really like this new look as compared to stock, and the green seats go very well with the tail covers. Now I do not need to buy a black seat - yahoo!

                          • Congratulations mate!! I know how long you've been waiting to get the green beast. What better New Year gift can one ask for eh?

Just one observation: Is the positioning of the tank guard right? Feel it should have been placed a little lower to avoid the zipper scratches

A request: Any possibility I can see the bike in flesh and blood? PM me your address if it's ok with you

Q: Did you get it from the Bajaj probiking showroom in Indiranagar? Is it open already?

Thank you! Yes, I was waiting for this bike a long time...

I had purposely put the tank pad where it is because I wear a short leather riding jacket and the zip position begins just above the starting point of the tank pad position. When I sit on the bike, the zipper of the jeans or my leather riding pants are no threat to the tank paint since they are concealed. I decided on the tank pad position after sitting on the Ninja a few times both with my regular sports and leather jacket.

Yes, I bought it from the probiking showroom on 100 ft road (near KFC). The bike is displayed there so you can have a look. And I stay in R.T Nagar, so let me know what works for you -if RT nagar is closer, let me know and I will pm you all the details.

                              Cheers!
