I'll pop in a fresh CR2 battery and see how it works. Ask Startrek how his alarm is working, he's also got the same one.

Friends ! Recently there have been a series of incidents where certain some rider friends of mine have undergone unreal trauma due to plain unwillingness to follow any sort of traffic discipline by the majority of my brethren out there. Breaking your bones cause the other guy was a moron ISNT FUNNY and makes me almost wanna give up riding in India. But alas...like every other good thing out there, it is addictive.
The green goblin is being abused and is being put to an endurance test every single hour of my 28 hrs a ride in a 24 hrs day. Its hardly getting any sleep !
Tbh...I am worried that I am riding too much and riding it only at high revs. Can someone chime in and share their experience of riding a bike at high revs all the freakin time?
I find myself in need of consulting a rehabilitation centre in the near future. I have gotten addicted to the peak power output of the Ninja at 8K and 11.5K rpm. Any gear, any Speed..chug it into a gear at 11.5K rpm and momentarily you forget your own name! The linear power delivery is clearly felt ans is mind numbing ! You want that spurt of adrenaline to last longer though and this is where the Ninja fails you. The trip doesnt last very long and you are in constant search of that one HIT again that you know is not gonna come
In certain some sentences to come, I am gonna call this Ninja 250R underpowered. You may call me an idiot for calling it that right now, if you may wish ! Dont get me wrong though...the ninja is potent enough to get you big skin grafts and elephantastic bone marrow surgeries, it may even make you elligible for one of those highly funded futuristic experiments to make Bionic Humanoids ! Plainly put, it can and will get you in situations which will have you pray for the judgement day, and that it shall do with sheer speed.
In India, if you ask me, anything more than 50kmph is a potential Death ! And India is a very small playground for the Ninja. I am beginning to fathom the the utter uselessness ( if such a word ever existed ) of anything upwardly 250cc on our roads. Get me right...you sure will come accross patches where with your balls tied to your forehead you may even hit 300kmph, but more often than less, you shall be putting yourself in the way of death while hitting those marks. Its how successfully and safely you can achieve high speeds with a certainty of having a good cup of american expresso after your ride, that counts more to me than just hitting those speeds by disrespecting and ignoring all the possible consequences of attaining Inertia on our roads !!
So yeah, I dont want a Death Machine with a 1000CC bike but I wish the Ninja could give me the HIT for a longer duration than just merely teasing my innocent childish like mind by dangling the SPEED carrot in front of my eyeballs.
In the wake of the near delivery of my new Suzuki Hayabusa/Yamaha R1 ( I am not disclosing which bike yet cause there are certain ppl and I want them to keep guessing about it), I have found myself thinking about the rational behind buying anything bigger. I dont want the Death Machine tag that the four cylinders currently carry on our roads. I want something only slightly faster. Something that will enable me to encourage this great sport of biking to my own kids...something that will guarantee that I shall survive that long!
P.S The Ninja 250R is underpowered that being my only point, the rest is just rambling !sigpic

Well said there - after riding the Ninja for 10 days now, I have realized the same thing: it is an utter waste of money to buy anything beyond a Ninja 250R in India. The traffic sense of motorists in Bangalore is so horrible that at times I start wishing I was a giant robot and I could take a huge shovel and scoop+throw all those miserable souls (and their contraptions) into the Bay of Bengal.
And life on the highway is only marginally better. All the pent up and repressed frustration of driving in the city comes alive in the form of these 60bhp zippo gas can hatchbacks doing 120 kmph; and they have no regard, be it for themselves or anyone on the roads. Anything above 80 kmph on those highways is calling for trouble. Some of my riding gear is Moto GP spec; but I still feel nervous if I start riding at 100 kmph.
And of course, there's this absolute lack of sense when it comes to private property. Park your bike for 5 minutes, and people will swarm around your bike, touching it, some swinging a leg over it. I covered my bike in my apartment parking and that did not deter people from lifting the cover from the rear and checking the bike out. I was out to Delhi for one day and when I come back, I see the rear side of the cover lifted up. If I had not locked the cover to the front wheel, there would be no cover. So I went out and bought a cable lock which now ties the cover to the rear wheel as well. And by the way, startrek (Praveen) had his bike cover stolen from his apartment parking recently.
I was also thinking of buying something faster on two wheels, but I have junked all plans, present or future. If I want to ride (and enjoy) a fine motorcycle, I will do so on an international driving permit in Japan or Pacific North West in the US after renting one.
The buck stops at the Ninja 250R.

I havent ridden anything more powerful than a ZMA(have ridden an RD as well but thats not in production and nowhere near to the miles I have clocked on my ZMA). Yet I can more than agree with you guys.10 Commandments:
1)Thank thy God for being alive.
2)Thou shalt respect one's own life and the live's of other road users.
3)Thou shalt respect one's own bike.
4)Love thy bike as thy self.
5)Always wear safety gear.
6)Alcohol is a strict NO!
7)Thou may lust after thy neighbour's bike specially if its of the R1 kind!
8)Thou shalt ride with 'ultra-most' care and caution when on Indian roads.
9)Thou shalt never leave the engine running at long traffic halts.
10)Thou shalt follow all of the above.

I tried to teach myself that I am not to react at all when ppl do this to your bike ! But i cant...i fight and struggle against this everyday.
Today there was a fcuktard (nsfw post) who was checking if my bikes handle were locked. I saw this from a distance...patiently waited thinking he shall go away. He swung his leg over and started reversing the bike...
I was like **** ! Someones stealing my ride...i ran my lungs out to him and he smiled while getting off the bike.
"If the handle lock werent on I would have atleast known what it really feels like"
I was like... hell yeah, but theres a reason why its on and its for numbnuts like you who just give me the scare of my life not to mention threaten my bike with scraches all over.
I mean just look at this. The guys went to the extent of removing your Bike Cover ...LMAO....sorry.
I have a new problem. These beggar kids start swarming the bike at a university circle in my town. Now these are kids who DONT listen ! They touch it, they rape it...and you cant do shit about it. I tried talking to them. I even gave a ride to one of them and promised a ride if they behaved with the bike. But fcuk...nothing helps.
Ok, I aint a complaining ***** but life doesnt have to be unneccesarily complicated either ! I have a bike...I should be able to ride it. Periodsigpic

yes i was about to ask you regarding the black cat protection required for the ninja, TH and you have already given me the answers.
Ninja will require VVIP treatment wherever it goes, and i know it cannot be provided in india. where ever u go people will lay their hands on your bike. the worst fear is that without a centre stand ninja is a sitting duck for fools who are likely to sit on her in your absence and may drop her. it seems one should have one ordinary bike for your daily commute and keep ninja just for special rides where she is with you all the time. i sometimes wonder if the exposed rear break fluid reservoir can be broken by some way side miscreants while the bike is parked. may be i am overdoing the whole issue..... still i hate someone even touching my car.... sorry......Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water

@tenhut - i know what you mean when you say its underpowered, and you love the high revs of the engine. But the performance has a price, and it has to be respected equally. A replacement of any component is big bucks, lol!!
And also its fine to rev the bike to peak power, but also keep the engine thru the rev range, and not always close to the red line. meaning, ride it like mad, but not all the time.
Cheers, happy riding!!

Guys,
I've ordered the shogun frame sliders & the B2 industries fender eliminator for my black baby. Got confirmation that it has been shipped today..so i guess i should get it in the next 10 days & i will post pics. I will make sure to post pics at every stage of installation so that the guys who want to install the same get some assistance.
Well, i do 30 kms everyday on the western express highway in mumbai on the way to my office & i am always revving the ninja between 8k & 11k & sometimes to 12.5-13k ... i sometimes am scared that i'm pushing it to hard ..but only enjoy it @ that rpm...do any of you guys feel the same?? i also think that i'm fcuking up the engine by revving it so hard..all you ninja owners ..wssup on your side are you pushing it each time ??
#I've done 1900 kms now & both front & back brakes have been making a squeaking sound.. i guess they need lubrication..rite??
Can i lube it with the oil that local mechanics have?? Pls advice?
#Also, i was thinking of the aftermarket exhaust :-
Can anybody help if the aftermarket will cause any damage to the engine ?? cause the aftermarket on my suzuki shogun that i purchased in 1997 fcuked my pistons up.. infact 2 of them..lol? Can anybody with some knowledge pls help answer my query?
Thanks- Karan.

Make her scream, make her go faster and faster and enjoy the ultimate nirvana indeed!
So no problem reving her, but dont keep ur RPM needle stuck to Red line every time you start your ride.
@aftermarket exhaust
Anything aftermarket if used without alteration in AFR ratio and many other things bring the engine to dead end either slowly or steadly.
So better keep away from exhausts if you have no plans to soak your hands in engine oil.
Else if ur okay with alters then go get a exhaust today!
@squeaking noice should be sorted out!
Just clean your discs.
