    • But honestly, BAJAJ could have sold/booked better no. Of ninja 250 if they had promoted it the way they promoted Pulsar's.
No ad campaigns, no TV adds, no POSTERS etc, shows how much serious they are to sell 250.

Well i agree to you that promotion part was missing for Ninja 250 but the thing is that at present demand is overshooting supply. They intended to sell 10 units but demand already went up to double thrice the amount they expected so they dont wanna promote it anymore.
The hype around Ninja was already so high months before launch and Bajaj encashed on it, i think (personally my opinion) that its no use creating ads, promotions and then creating a backlog of waitings amounting to 2-4 months like the Swift VDi

          • ^^ if they make the hype with advertisements and thru the media, and then offer the customer a 3 month waiting period, it really doesnt make sense does it??? Let them sort out their demand and supply issues, then they should look at advertising.

Also when its selling without spending on advt, then whats the harm!!

I think my one is bust (or the battery is dead) though the same lock which I got for startrek (praveen) seems to be working fine.

looks great.....how long will these stickering last ?

                  • ^^ the rim tapes are genuine Yamaha, and of the reflective type, so they should last well.

The stickering on the side fairing, maybe 2-3 months, then ill change em( i think ill get bored by then).

Ninja sucks at 3 lacs...wtf...its so expensive for a 250 CC engine. I dont understand much of handling or suspension or about the stability of the bike at high speeds or about engine refinement or high rpm reliability nor about braking. But what the hell..those are the least important aspects of a bike at all. I know that more the horsepower the bike has the better the bike is. Sure...with 3 lacs the ninja is almost at par with its price in US(cause the US one is Carb). But then the Ninja 250R is overpriced all over the world. What a piece of junk to buy.No wonder it doesnt sell anywhere !

and i can imagine you furiously keying away,

some words by few at other places--
So bajaj decided to make a profit of 70000 off 1000 customers, instead of 20000 off 10,000. Same investment in terms of training, dealerships.

1 litre bike 13L on road, 250 cc - 3L. Sounds fair until you realize that the duty on 1000cc bikes is 110%, as opposed to the 11% that bajaj is paying on this bike.

"Mature enough to ride this"? You are either mature enough to ride anything. Or nothing at all.

                      some more--

See the price as for as i heard is 2.65 Ex showroom... And in US the price of 2010 version of Ninja is around 4500 US$ so its around 2.2... And if we import it in india there is a tax of 15 % (I am not sure about the %)

some more--(though not very relevant)if bajaj wasn't associated with this motorcycle it should have sold like anything...

Selling more, means many more Ninja's to service. Which i doubt if BAL can service that number, without affecting the service quality...

*some more--by many enthusiasts who were waiting patiently

I am sure most would agree that I shouldn't indulge you... but still have to clear the cloud.

Firstly, and hopefully the last time .. the US model is Carb.. the one in India is Fuel injected just like the ones in Europe and Japan. Now I will give u the prices there:

                        UK > 4099 GBP = Rs. 305186.
                        Japan > 528,000 YEN = Rs. 264204
                        germany > 4795 Euro = Rs. 315562

and these are the prices listed in on the Kawi website.... so i am not talking about the insurance and other expenses.

All the other points are so baseless... that I won't even bother.

and the Kawi US/UK and others are making profits on it, aren't they?

what about the 11% bajaj is paying over 110-115% we have to shell out for 1000cc,
bajaj is making very fat profits, no two ways about it,

                            • Can anyone check whether the R15's paddock stand can be used on the Ninja too? It doesn't require swingarm spools&costs Rs.1500 only!

@Midnight: How much is Bajaj selling that paddock stand for? What about the swingarm spools?

@All: Any other accessories Bajaj is selling other than the stand&single seat cowl?

+1 for the letters in bold. when we compare the pricing of the Ninja in India it is on par with the rest of the world. ex showroom price-UK 3.05L, Japan 2.64L, Germany 3.15 L , India 2.7 L.now Indian customers are paying less than their counterparts in other countries. so Ninja is not over priced in India.

what are you talking about. doesnt make any sense.thanks to Bajaj if you decide to buy ninja in India today, you end up paying less than what you would in UK or Germany or Australia.

whereas if you decide to buy the fireblade or the R1 here you will end up paying twice the price of the bike than you would in UK , Germany, and US.

kawasaki UK / germany/ are making profit on these bikes and selling it at 3L exshowroom. Bajaj is paying 11% tax on the ninja and selling it at 2.7L exshowroom. now i believe we are getting a fair deal here.unless someone wants to buy the ninja at the price of the splendor. please dont make baseless statements and pollute the thread here. if you have the proof provide the same here otherwise spare the thread for ownership discussions only.
