    • Got mine delivered last night

      Registration is still on its way, so can't take her out much, but did ride her for 150kms yesterday

      Will take some time to get adjusted to the position, my wrists ache like mad (longtime bullet rider) and also forearms seem to flex more

      Wont be adding the rear sets for sure cuz my legs are already bent at a tight angle, adding the rear sets will further increase it...

      Initial impressions are really really nice.. got up early to cover a few more KMs before work to reach the runic finish line

      As for the run in period, I guess the runin period globally would be 1000miles, which these guys have converted to 1600kms.

      But these guys service the bike with oil change etc at 1000kms itself. So waiting for the next 600kms duznt make much sense. cuz even if there are files of iron, they will come out only at the next service which is at 6000kms.

      So guess I will run in for only 1000kms

      • ^^ I want to correct you on this part. Globally all Kawasaki motorcycles have the same break-in distance of 500miles (4000rpm) and 1000miles (8000rpm). and the reason is not just "seat" moving parts in the engine, by wearing in metal to metal contact surfaces. The main purpose of the break-in is to seat the piston rings to the cylinder walls. These parts must be physically worn into each other to achieve the best possible seal to prevent blow-by (hot gases escaping the combustion chamber past the piston rings into the crankcase).

        The fact is that an engine is not fully broken in for several thousands of miles. During that period, you have to respect it more than you would a fully broken in engine. That said, the Ninja 250 is probably 95% broken in by 500 miles. And it's probably 90% broken in by 50 miles. Stillthe engine is not fully broken in until 15-20k miles or so, when everything in the engine is completely seated, at which point the engine begins to ever-so-slowly deteriorate (just like you grow until you're 27 years old, then you start to die).

        and this is the reason why MV Agusta's engines don't need to breaking-in

          Hey congrats ... take care of the beauty ... i too had been riding the bullet for past 1 year and feel the same ache on the right wrist ... what colour is it ???

          Thanks a lot for the info ... had been adviced of the same ... but this detailing would help in attaining deeper knowledge although i want to go past 4k mark but this would keep reminding as not to

              Congrats Bhushan. Wishing you many happy and safe rides on the ninjette.

              Don't worry about the aches and pains. I had the same issue earlier and was wondering why the bike was so uncomfortable. I had never ridden it prior to buying since there was no test ride bikes back then and i did not ride my friends bikes as well (dont like to borrow others bikes).

              Gradually i got used to it and now i can easliy do around 400-600 kms with a few short breaks thrown in between.... and my fitness levels are bare minimum.

                      Follow the run-in instructions to the dot though - together with the reasons mentioned above I would say that it will make you more familiar with her under various driving conditions before you begin blasting her.

                        We desperately need a good race track near Bombay... Lots of super bikes in our city waiting to stretch their legs... Lol... There's is also a need for some good riding schools... I think bajaj should have a regular program at their track to teach biking on a regular basis... Something like BMW does for their customers... It isn't practical for most of us to go to chennai/Cochin for bike schools... Just the logistics of it makes it not worth the while...                         I am a proud owner of a ninja 250r, but unfortunately I don't have the required training to handle and enjoy this bike to the fullest... Is there any way you could organise an event to train new riders who purchase your bikes? With the introduction of the Ninja and KTM series of bikes and your own pulsar 200ns we are getting more and more performance in the hands of people not trained enough to handle it. If you were to organise a bike training event like those organised by the apex school(monthly), indimotard(bi-monthly) and California racing school (annually), it would do a lot of good for your customers. Moreover, since you have your own track in Chakhan, this would be all the more simpler for you. It would also remove the logistical issues which prevent people form the northern regions to participate in such activities. Not only this, I am sure it would also go a long way in brand building and promotion of your products.

                              So it didn't turn out to be as massive a makeover as I had planned, but here are the results... Pics taken from a phone camera, so please excuse the quality...

                              1) Carbon fiber vinyl on windscreen...



                              2) Angel eyes + HID projectors...




                              3) Side fairings repaired and painted + Carbon fiber vinyl on side panels...



                              4) Undertail Painted...



                              5) Power commander installed... Not too sure about the effect, but did feel slight improvement in low-mid end... Will post a more detailed feedback after I install my full exhaust (any time in the next week)


                              6) I wanted to do a vinyl job on the bodywork too, but decided against it... Let me know your views on how this will look on a black bike...




                              7) I wanted to make my own "no-cut" fender eliminator, but that didn't work out... will look into getting one from the US...

                                I would suggest against white vinly... Either silver/greyish or deep red vinyl would suit imho.

                                Even I have been looking for a DIY project for fender elminator, without any success, it should be possible; just gotta get the measurements..
