I had order the most basic one from the link stated above from the company JT sprockets as i have read nice reviews of the same and keeping the size to the stock, otherwise then i would have to do adjustment in the chain length.

i had taken a sort of prior appointment for the service. my office is also just 100 meters from the service centre. i gave the bike at 8-30 am and got it back by 5-45 pm. last service was to adjust the chain and lube ( before the saddle sore ride) the chain was lubed along with the rear brake disc. so it had taken 2 days to get the rear brakes working again. so much for service quality. but then do you have a choice ?

Transporting the bike

So, I have the classic biker problem - how do I get my bike shipped safely?
I'm moving to Delhi soon and my initial plans are to ride all the way from Bangalore to Delhi. That is a plan, and a grand one at that, with 6 other people, via Mumbai.

However, there's a chance that my parents might not agree with the idea and might ask me to fly to Delhi instead. And I'm clueless about what I would do then. I can't leave my bike behind and till date, I've not found a logistics company that I'd trust with my bike.

Question two: How tough is it, and how long does it take to get an NOC from the Bangalore RTO? I'm planning to keep the bike on NOC for a while since I don't intend to pay the hefty road taxes in Delhi again.

I hope you realize that's out of question, right?

Then be prepared to ship your Ninja through the train you'll be taking from Bangalore to Delhi; that's the next best (or worst) option you've got.

If there's a direct train, no issues, you'll only have to load & unload once; otherwise, ride to Chennai & take a direct train from Chennai to Delhi. I'm more than confident, you can get best help from here on packing & loading in the train.

Be sure to have enough packing material. It will ensure minimum, or no damage. I would suggest that you take out the indicators, the windshield & if possible, the exhaust too & carry it as part of your luggage.

I just randomly checked the shipment volume based on the bike weight - Rounded up to 180 kgs. Amount comes to Rs3,900 + Metro Taxes which can be refined by calling them up, rest all covered. The fuel expenses would be more + hotel and food if you wish to travel by road anyways + plus the risk of giving your bike to someone else.

Couple of days back some members had transported their bike to Delhi from Pune for their Ladakh trip. Works perfect instead of getting into a hassle of train and changing at stations, Also they ensure the shipping is in perfect condition, they have special services for automobiles. Give them a ring.

The above is illegal and you will be prosecuted if caught. (yeah right)..

There actually is a direct train. But trains still scare me. I've not heard the best of things about them when it comes to bikes. And I've seen some nasty stuff myself. But this is a last resort nonetheless.

I've heard good things about them too. I'll call them and inquire. I did get my Caliber transported via Gati and it arrived in Bangalore in perfect condition. But in any case, those ten days for which my bike was being shipped, I was very tense

People have been scaring me about Delhi's traffic laws. I've heard the rules there are quite strict, but that is still manageable.

I had transported my Ninja from Pune to chennai in train without any special care. No scratches, breakages etc.

I had also transported a FZ from Pune to Delhi and from Jammu to Pune in train. Again no scratches, breakages etc.

I had found trains as the cheapest and fastest method of transporting a bike. You just need to be present there at the time of packing and loading.

Also you have two trains starting from bangalore and ending in Delhi. So not much issue about bike getting to some farther point.

Crash

Took a Horrible crash in my ninja today. I have to say I am luck to be still breathing.
Such a nasty accident. Bike's totally messed up. have to take it to pbk once I recover.

Good to see that you are ok. Repairing/replacing bike is always easier and cheaper than repairing / replacing bones.
