  • Re: Bajaj Avenger - All versions

    Hello everyone,
    I am New to this forum, i own an avenger Street 220 and it is about to turn 1 year old on 10th
    I wanted to discuss a few issues.
    1) there is a trin trin sound coming out from somewhere either the speedometer or where the disc brake box is. ASC people say its nothing, but it is.
    2) the bike rides tilted a degree or so towards one side, i fear this is because of suspension liquid imbalance.
    3) when it goes over potholes or rumble strips etc, the body makes noises( like plastic fairings kept in a big metal toolbox). And it worries me to think that the body is loose or something.
    4) I like revving the engine sometimes, but now when i do it, its wierd, its shorter, on a seriously lower note, it groans, and the bike almost threatens me to stop or she would do so... 🤐😣
    8200 kms, currently in dehradun, planning 4th service before 10th jan (bike's birthday)
    I would request someone to help me understand and solve these problems.

      I had a similar issue, turns out it was the numberplate that was loose.

      Just clocked 1.2 years as well as 10k on my 220 street.
      As its time for the next service, can somebody please point out to what all should be serviced at 10k ?

      Some major issues that I have been noting-
      1) Have been using the standard bajaj oil till now. Planning to move to motul in this service
      2) The bike abruptly switches off, esp. while I press the clutch fully (gear shifting or heavy braking). Hence the rpm is kept little higher now temporarily.
      3) Front tyre doesnt turn freely. Requires a lot of pressure to turn freely. (Affecting avg. badly ~35 only)
      4) Sometimes to shift, I have to give a little throttle or else the gear is so hard to shift. Once it hits a certain rpm its easy to shift. Any solution to this.
      5) Maybe chain slack is high now and needs to be adjusted.

      TIA

            It looks like the new Avenger 220 Street (2018) will feature :
            ->Digital Console
            ->Digital Fuel Meter
            ->LED Tail Lamps
            ->Front Fork Gaiters
            ->And Possible a Single Channel ABS

            My Question here is , and which excites me a lot. -> Will it be practically feasible to import the ABS from New Model to the Street 220 ? What level of changes will usually go into achieving something like this. [ I Feel ABS is a LIFE SAVER, and it's really important we look into it.]

            Edit : Never Mind, Retrofitting ABS in a non ABS Model is very impractical and ridiculously expensive, not to mentioned the expertise required.

              Instead of doing this meaning less update, they should add rear disk brake, Power Up + optional ABS with 2-3 New colours.

                My Avenger 150 had 2nd service in September at 2286 kms, yesterday just did oil change at 4644 kms. For rhe past 3-4 days, bike stops when de-accelerating.It takes 3 attempts to get start. The meter gets blank for a second. After service it showed "H2R2 1.2" on meter twice. Is the battery not getting charged up. I ride daily 20 kms to work.

                  How's the headlight illumination on the avenger street 220 ? Is it bright and wide for night rides ?

                    Its decent, but don't have too much expectation.

                        Not good if i compare with other bikes.
                        Brightness is decent and width wise average.

                          I tried turning the handle bar key but was unable to lock it. Am i doing anything incorrectly ? Is there a particular method to follow ?
                          And secondly, where do you guys store the bike papers ?

                            I keep digital copy of insurance.
                            DL+RC in wallet. I have no intention of keeping originals in bike. Keep a copy under the bike's seat for emergency.

                            For Handle locking, you need to push the key gently inside, and then turn clockwise to lock, and anti clockwise for unlock. Pretty easy.

                              Yes...very true....dont keep any originals in bike...when my bike was stolen...for claim settlement insurance company was asking for original policy copy...which they had sent me through post... Without it they were not settling my claim...i managed somehow...but we should never keep any originals in bike...
